Progress update..it's starting to take shape. Shelving is next on the list.

..and that's game 43 of 2026 completed - 007 First Light Another from the backlog cleared. Undoubtedly a great use of the 007 license with some really impressive locations. However the linear nature of the gameplay felt overly restrictive and just left me yearning to replay Hitman again.

..and that's game 42 of 2026 completed - LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Been going through quite a stressful time lately and this has proven to be the perfect gaming antidote. Smashing LEGO bricks never gets old, especially in an open world that looks this good.

Just got back from seeing this and can't remember the last time I felt so conflicted over a movie. There is lots to love about it, but my word it certainly makes some bizarre choices along the way. Some of the worst creature CGI I've seen in a long time too. #Hope

Absolutely loved this.. way funnier than I expected (in an early Evil Dead kind of way). A bold take on the franchise with more than enough nods to feel part of the Resi universe. #ResidentEvil

..and that's game 41 of 2026 completed - The Blood of Dawnwalker A truly exceptional game that pushes the openworld RPG genre in all the right directions. It maintains a real focus on characters & meaningful choices. All of which actually shape the story into feeling like its one of your own making

Games Room + Office Conversion - Work in Progress It's finally happening! A space to call my own and finally display (and enjoy) the gaming collection I've amased over the past 40 years. The fun part of decorating and furnishing it starts real soon! 😀

Only a few hours in but the time mechanic is already proving to be a genius addition (& probably the best implementation of such a thing since the original Dead Rising) It just immediately makes you focus on choices making every one more meaningful whilst still giving you plenty of scope to explore

With silly release season upon us, harsh decisions need to be made in terms of gaming commitments. I've settled on The Blood of Dawnwalker as my main (and only AAA) purchase.. no Wolverine or Onimusha for me. They will still be around to play when the time comes. How about you?

..and that's game 40 of 2026 completed - Zero Parades For Dead Spies Creating any kind of a follow-up to Disco Elysium was never going to be easy, but this does a good job of differentiating itself from its predecessor. With strong characters and some well implemented espionage gameplay elements.

..and that's game 39 of 2026 completed - Twisted Tower Just my kind of game: no microtransactions, no DLC, no unnecessary padding. Just excellent level design and pure playability. It wears its BioShock influence proudly, blending it well with Boomer Shooter style gunplay. A steal at only £10 too!

..and that's game 38 of 2026 completed - Esoteric Ebb Possibly one of the best video game interpretations of D&D I've played. It totally nails the vibe of a really well-made, small-scale one-shot, packed with political, religious, and often hilarious undertones from start to finish.

..and that's game 37 of 2026 completed - Double Dragon Revive Not a patch on the likes of Streets of Rage 4. However brawler fans will still get some enjoyment from it, despite an infuriatingly brutal final boss. Double Dragon Neon still remains my favourite of the modern DD game.

..and that's game 36 of 2026 completed: Dive or Die: Children of Rain Best described as a lovecraftian take on Dave the Diver. Offers plenty of challenge, a good balance of resource management and rewarding exploration. Already looking forward to my next run through (now I know what Im doing)

..and that's game 35 of 2026 completed: The Mermaid Mask This series has been an absolute delight; each game gradually builds in complexity and scale while perfectly retaining its signature charm, wit, brilliant writing, and stellar voice work. Hats off to #SFBGames, incredible work! 👏

..and that's game 34 of 2026 complete: Tangle Tower I can't recommend this series of games enough. If you have even a passing interest in the detective/investigative or visual novel genre then you need to check them out. Great stories, fantastic voice acting & real heart. Next up The Mermaid Mask!

..and that's game 33 of 2026 completed: Desktop Explorer An incredible puzzle game! It scratches that nostalgic itch perfectly with it's 90's based OS interface whilst cleverly hiding lots of surprises and emotional storytelling within. Gets you really thinking outside the "text" box at times too.

..and that's game 32 of 2026 completed: Detective Grimoire Prior to starting my playthrough of The Mermaid Mask, thought I'd check the previous Grimoire games out first, and really glad I did. It has a real Lucasarts "Point and Click" charm, and is perfect for a single sitting session.

..and that's game 31 of 2026 completed: Gothic Remake Possibly the most difficult RPG of its type I've played. Zero handholding, no waypoints and limited fast travel all contribute to a tough but rewarding adventure. If you can survive the punishing first few hours you are in for a real treat.

..and that's game 30 of 2026 completed - Streets of Rage 4 Time for my annual playthrough of my favourite arcade brawler. For me it's simply unmatched and always a joy to play. I'll also take the oppoortunity to give Absolum a shoutout, another Dotemu classic with lots of SoR4 DNA. Don't skip it.

..and that's game 29 of 2026 completed - StarFox Easily one of my favourite games of the year so far... a lovingly crafted remake that offer the perfect balance of old and new. It's easily one of the Switch 2's best looking titles to date as well, with some surpringly well directed cutscenes too.

Spent the weekend working though a massive backlog of NextFest demos. Here are just a few of my favourites: #PenguinColony - Penguins and Cthulhu (say no more) #Takeover2 - A great Streets of Ragelike #PrisonofHusks - A PS1 styled Soulslike #RetroSpace - A variation on System Shock

..and that's game 28 of 2026 completed - No, I'm Not A Human After a bit of a gaming break due to life "stuff" I'm now back on an indie kick and this one proved right up my street (after being recommended by my daughter). It's quirky, weird, unsettling and defintiely unique.

For those interested here's my Tiermaker ranking for the series based on this 2026 playthough: I struggle to seperate the S-Tier titles, each equally brilliant in their own way.

..and that's game 27 of 2026 completed - Resident Evil Village So that concludes not only the story of Ethan Winters (surely one the most mistreated protaganists in recent gaming history) but also my re-playthough of the entire mainline Resi series. Can't see me ever tiring of these games.

..and that's game 26 of 2026 completed - Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Now that's more like it! Feel this is possibly one of the most underrated games in the series. For me it ticks all the right Resi boxes and is a great return to form. Next up: Resident Evil Village (nearing the end now)

..and that's game 25 of 2026 completed - Resident Evil 6 This was such a slog. Incredible how a series can go from the heights of Resi 4 to whatever the hell this game is! Just glad Capcom decided to take the series in a fresh direction following this one. Next up: Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

My latest Indie obsession has arrived - #DeadAsDisco It's like the gaming lovechild of Sifu & Hi-Fi Rush mixed with the combat of Batman Arkham, and I'm all here for it! It's Early Access at the moment but still well worth a purchase. A demo is also available on Steam if you need convincing.

..and that's game 24 of 2026 completed - Resident Evil Revelations 2 Had fond memories of this one and the replay held up. It's a marked improvement over the first Revelations game. Puts its episodic structure to good use and has an AI partner system that actually works Next Up: Resident Evil 6

..and that's game 23 of 2026 completed - Pragmata Capcoms run of quality titles continues with this excellent 3rd person shooter. Felt very reminicent of 360/Gamecube era games like Vanquish and PN-03. Sublime visuals, engaging combat and a satisfying ending all elevate it to a must play status.

..and that's game 22 of 2026 completed - Resident Evil 5 Some very questionable design decisions leave this one being a bit of a mess. The forced co-op hasn't aged well at all, with the majority of the time being spent preventing Sheva from wasting all the ammo Next up: Resident Evil Revelations 2

..and that's game 21 of 2026 completed - Resident Evil Revelations It's around this time that the series had lost its way a little. A good setting is squandered by overly simplistic gameplay, an awful bunch of side characters and a real lack of atmosphere. Next up Resident Evil 5

..and that's game 20 of 2026 completed - Replaced Taken a short break from my Resi playthroughs to make time for this one. Have had my eye on its development for a couple of years & the final game hasn't disappointed. Some of the best pixel artwork Ive seen, with a killer soundtrack too. Loved it!

..and that's game 19 of 2026 completed - Resident Evil 4 Remake Easily the best of the modern remakes. Fleshing out the original in all the right areas whilst still remaining true to the main story beats and key moments. Next up: Resident Evil Revelations

..and that's game 18 of 2026 completed - Resident Evil 3 Remake Definitely the weakest of the remakes. Its short playtime and massive deviation from the original release really dont help matters. Coupled with incredibly linear maps (even by Resi standards) and a real absence of any form of puzzles.

..and that's game 17 of 2026 completed - Resident Evil 2 Remake Still making progress with my series re-playthrough despite the recent distraction of Crimson Desert. I can definitely see why everone adores the remake but I find it never quite handles the intertwining story as well as the original.

..and that's game 16 of 2026 completed - Resident Evil HD Remaster (2015) For me still the definitive Resident Evil experience with the perfect balance of action, puzzle solving, resource management, atmosphere and bad acting. Next up.. Resident Evil 2 Remake

..and that's game 15 of 2026 completed - Resident Evil 0: HD Remaster (2016) Not sure what was the tougher fight in this one, the bosses or the games inventory management system! Limited item space, no storage boxes & lots of backtracking all add to the frustration. Still looks great though!

...and that's game 14 of 2026 completed - Resident Evil 4 (2005) Always a pleasure playing through this one. The combat still holds up incredibly well (even after playing Requiem), with plenty of iconic scenes throughout. A true classic of its era Next up Resident Evil: Zero.. definitely this time
