ICYMI yesterday: @lesleyclark.bsky.social and I unpacked Trump's threat to open a suspension and debarment investigation into the National Academies over its involvement in a project aimed at educating federal judges about the climate science. Here's what it all means: www.eenews.net/articles/tru...

Trump threatens National Academies with debarment. Here's what it is.
The president invoked an obscure process to review the institution's federal grants over what he says is "climate fraud."

The Hallmarks of Pseudoscience
I’ve been investigating pseudoscientific claims for 13 years now. The word “pseudoscience” means “fake science,” something that superficially looks like science—and is often sold as such—but that isn’...

Jeff Bezos has $222 billion. If he paid my wealth tax this year, we could fund insulin in America for everyone who needs it plus free school lunch for every kid in Texas—and have plenty of money left over. And Bezos would still have $215 billion dollars to spare.

I've watched thousands of videos from the Jan. 6 riot as part of NPR's reporting and archive project on that day. Here are some of the lesser known videos that have really stuck with me. 🧵

NEW: I obtained internal emails from the Department of Energy's climate working group. They show the group plotting to produce a second misleading climate report, DOE officials avoiding public disclosure laws, DOE peer reviewers stating they weren't qualified: www.eenews.net/articles/doe...

DOE sees bigger role for climate contrarians, records show
A small team of researchers who dispute mainstream climate science may play an outsize role in the next National Climate Assessment.

NCAR is a unique & valuable asset - far more than a climate model, or observations, or technology, or training ground, or gathering space. It covers weather, space weather, data, climate, paleo-climate, and everything in-between. It's building is an icon, but it's iconic status goes far beyond that.
