Thank you, Brookline - we did it! We protected what makes Brookline Brookline. Thank you to everyone who supported this campaign, including the dozens of volunteers who spent countless hours knocking doors, calling neighbors, hosting lawn signs, writing emails, creating graphs, and more.

🚨 Endorsement alert! YES for Brookline is thrilled to share that we've been endorsed by State Senator Cindy Creem and State Representative Bill MacGregor! They join State Representative Tommy Vitolo in supporting YES to prevent devastating cuts to our town and school services.
letter from State Senator Cindy Creem: Dear Brookline-ite,
I was born and raised in Brookline, went to Runkle and graduated from BHS. I understand that a good public education system is the bedrock of a free society. The children and grandchildren in our communities are counting on us to provide sufficient opportunity for them to learn and grow, and approach the future with the tools they will need.
Unfortunately, the funding constraints of Prop 2 1/2 mean many communities across the Commonwealth are unable to adequately fund school and town services. That is why override ballot questions are growing. I am a strong advocate in the Massachusetts Senate for increasing local aid, but harmful policies and downright regressive cuts from the federal government are making this much more difficult.

Without this override, there will be serious reductions to town services, including the Fire Department, Senior Center and library funding, elimination of middle-school language and arts screenshot of a statement supporting YES on 1 from state rep William MacGregor

“When compared fairly with peer communities, Brookline actually taxes less than most others do–in many cases, far less. That has been true for a long time and passing the override won’t change it," says YES for Brookline volunteer Dave Gacioch. brookline.news/are-brooklin...

Even with the override, the property tax bill for the typical Brookline residential property will remain significantly lower than what you would pay in neighboring communities for a home with the same value. We get extraordinary value from our property taxes. Vote YES on May 5!
Graph showing the annual property tax bill for a home valued at $1.15m, which is the median residential property value in Brookline. Even with the override Brookline's tax bill will be significantly lower than every neighboring/peer community except Cambridge (and comparable to Waltham's).
