I finally got into the game! Now I'm able to start identifying the places the various different requests i've seen and mapped out in the decomp are used when returned from the server. Here's some screenshots with dummy data.

Update: turns out if you try to force things to work that don't work, it won't work. big surprise there. @slightlytango.bsky.social helped me figure out some stuff, and now it looks way way better! No bitmap font rendering, but a significant improvement regardless. Thanks again!
The two launchers compared side-by-side once again, now with better text matching.

spot the difference challenge. i am remaking the launcher in winforms, as close to pixel accurate as possible. why am i doing this? this is an excellent question. (it will make sense soon)
Two nearly identical versions of the launcher for the game IMP, the top one being the original version, and the bottom one being my recreation using winforms.

I like the external power 10-port ones with power buttons, I've had mine for like 3 years now and it's served me well, I got it for $40. The one I have I can't find sold anymore, but ones that look nearly identical exist and probably mfg'd by the same factory, double diamonds at the bottom of shell.

Thanks to scrandle, many of my friends are being introduced to the concept of Zsíros Kenyér, with many being confused or disgusted. To be fair, if you haven't had it before, it's a pretty fair reaction. I personally think it's pretty good, but I'm biased for obvious reasons.

also apparently the game just lets you define arbitrary floats as heights, not just the fixed list of -1, 8, 16, and 24.
A screenshot of the LEGO Stunt Rally construction screen, which has a track loaded that has many pieces lined up in a snaking pattern that are each slightly higher than the last, with positions -1 through 44. The 11th piece is highlighted in red, signifying the piece being placed in an invalid position.

I threw together a quick demo, just to confirm that I remembered correctly!
A screenshot of the game LEGO Stunt Rally, displaying the track construction screen. The current track's theme is shown to be jungle, but there are pieces present from all 4 of the game's themes (city, desert, jungle and arctic), which is something that should not normally be possible without hex editing.

I spent like half the day today fighting with installing POSReady 2009 on my relatively modern POS terminal (2018) running a Celeron J1900 (2013), ACPI will be my downfall.

I've been working on a C# library to communicate with the hardware of a #WACCA cabinet! Making pretty good progress. Up to this point, I've got touch and lights working (mostly), and I implemented support for the card reader last night!

Working on a thing to track what I get done every day, and how long I spend on it. Making pretty good progress so far!
A screenshot of the work-in-progress task tracking application, named WhaleTrack. It features a calendar view, and a list of tasks from the selected day, which lists the task name and the time spent on it. In the task list there is a task that reads "the amount of time i just spent making this", the time field reads 4 hours, 58 minutes, and 6 seconds.
