Very sad news. RJ Mitte, best known as Walter White Jr. on Breaking Bad, has died. He was 34. Mitte, who had cerebral palsy, used his platform to push for greater representation and opportunities for disabled actors.

Two-photo collage. Top: RJ Mitte as Walter White Jr. in Breaking Bad, wearing a dark denim jacket and using a forearm crutch, faces Bryan Cranston as Walter White, who wears glasses and a tan shirt and gestures with both hands. Bottom: Mitte and his fiancée, Kennedy Suarez, smile together in front of a green hedge topped with colorful flowers. Mitte wears a black suit, white shirt and black tie; Suarez wears a strapless charcoal-gray satin gown.

Imagine if I had told you, even just five days ago, that Kelly Clarkson would be publicly battling a store in Brooklyn over a mechanical bird named Molly. You wouldn’t have believed me.

The MAGA influencer who spread the false story about James Talarico being institutionalized for two weeks in Ohio is doubling down despite ample evidence that he spread a lie.

Screenshot of two X posts by Nick Sortor (@nicksortor). The first reads, “Sorry guys, I’ve caught the flu. I’ll respond to your questions in 12-15 days (maybe).” Below a “Mike DePorch reposted” label, Sortor writes, “Kidding. More recordings from the Lindner Hope Center are about to drop in the morning. PS: James Talarico should resign and find a less stressful career.” The second post is timestamped 9:47 PM on October 11, 2026.

Another update from Art of Play, the Brooklyn store Kelly Clarkson criticized on Saturday in a viral tweet. Check my timeline for the previous back-and-forth.

Screenshot of @artofplay’s statement about Kelly Clarkson’s Saturday visit. The store says she spent five minutes there and asked about Molly, a mechanical bird puppet permanently attached to the wall. It says Seattle artist Bliss Kolb owns a nearly identical automaton and would sell it for $15,000, and that staff explained this to Clarkson. The store also says it offered to show her a German-made singing-bird automaton costing about $2,000 that she could take home that day, but she left before seeing it. Art of Play says it has contacted her directly, wishes her well and hopes they can laugh about the misunderstanding.

5. Talarico and the institution in Ohio strongly deny that he was ever a patient there, and part of the story spread by influencers isn’t even logistically possible.

4. And they don’t want psychiatry to be replaced by God or support from one’s community. They want it replaced by expensive and psychologically devastating Scientology courses, training, and auditing.

1575

3. The objective is to damage the target’s reputation, and Cardone’s own words make clear that he doesn’t care whether the story is true. From the perspective of Scientology and Scientologists, there is nothing worse than conventional mental health care, especially psychiatry and psychiatrists.

2. This is Scientology 101, straight out of L. Ron Hubbard’s playbook. Hubbard instructed Scientologists to attack perceived enemies and use what he called “black PR” to destroy their reputations. Whether the information is true is beside the point.

1. Militant Scientologist Grant Cardone has jumped on a false story spread by two MAGA influencers claiming James Talarico was institutionalized for two weeks in Ohio. Cardone thanks one of the influencers for breaking the story, then adds, “whether it’s true or not.” Whether It’s True or Not!

Diane Keaton’s children, Dexter and Duke, remember their beloved mom on the first anniversary of her passing.

Collage of Diane Keaton with Dexter and Duke. At top, a black-and-white wedding portrait accompanies Dexter’s @mrs.whitenoize tribute: one year without her mom feels like yesterday and forever; she misses calling, hugging and going on adventures with her, and says, “I love you and I miss you. Always.” Below are three family photos: Diane with a young child in an orange pumpkin costume, Diane with both children when they were younger, and the three smiling in a boat beneath a bridge. Duke’s @dukekeaton caption reads, “I love you Mom ❤️ Thinking of you every day ♾️.”

UPDATE Kelly Clarkson has now responded to Art of Play, the Brooklyn store she criticized on here. The store said the item she wanted wasn’t for sale. But Clarkson says the store is lying and that there was a price tag on the item the store claims wasn’t for sale.

Screenshot of Kelly Clarkson’s Oct. 11, 2026 response to Art of Play. She disputes the store’s claim that its singing-bird automaton was not for sale, saying a “Singing Bird” price tag listed $15,000 and an employee told her it was for sale before offering something comparable. She calls the response dishonest and says small businesses still need to treat customers kindly. An embedded image shows the bird, its wall label and the $15,000 price.

Side-by-side screenshots of Kelly Clarkson’s Oct. 10, 2026 tweet and Art of Play’s reply. Clarkson says she felt judged as unable to afford items at the Brooklyn store, was offered something comparable and likens the treatment to Pretty Woman. The store says “Molly,” its one-of-a-kind singing and dancing bird automaton, is permanently attached to the wall and not for sale. It says all visitors are welcome, describes the backlash and hopes to clear things up with Clarkson.

You cannot begin to fathom the hell this girl has lived in for her entire life. A child raised in Scientology sees and experiences things that no child should. And that includes a child who grows up in great privilege, as Ella has.

In a new post clearly meant to deride the appearance of 2026 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Navi Pillay, Trump continues to complain that he was not awarded the Prize. He says no one has ever heard of her. He should speak to his friends in the Israeli government who have attacked her over the years.

It's honestly comical to watch Bass' campaign try to blow this story up when Bass clearly had a longstanding, very cordial relationship with Jacobs and thought there was nothing wrong with being seen together even after he was "credibly accused of sexual harassment" all the way back in 2020

KAREN BASS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, October 6, 2026
Contact: press@karenbass.com
ICYMI: Photos With Rick Jacobs The Raman Campaign
Doesn't Want You to See Photos with Raman and Sex Harasser Rick Jacobs Were
Mysteriously Deleted From Her Campaign Website LOS ANGELES — Nithya Raman's campaign quietly removed photos of Raman and Rick Jacobs, a former City Hall staffer who has been credibly accused of sexual harassment, according to reporting_by_LA Material. Jacobs cost taxpayers $1.8 million when the city settled
an LAPD officer's sexual harassment lawsuit against Jacobs. "Nithya Raman is a hypocrite. She worked at Time's Up, an organization dedicated to
addressing sexual harassment, and in 2020 called the allegations against Rick Jacobs 'deeply upsetting,'" said Bass campaign spokesperson Alex Stack. "But now that Jacobs's client has poured $3 million into supporting her mayoral campaign, Raman is more than happy to cozy up to someone with a deeply disturbing history. Her values are clearly up for
sale, and she doesn't have the character or moral judgment to be mayor."

O... In case you need a reminder of the (hilarious) absurdity of politics: After the Bass campaign flamed Raman for being "happy to cozy up" to Jacobs following our story this morning, somebody sent me this photo of Bass
and Jacobs, apparently from 2022.

lamaterialnews But at an event back in
November (before Raman had jumped in the race), Bass herself
warmly greeted Jacobs.

— GETTY HOUSE GUEST: Political consultant Rick Jacobs attended an exclusive post-inauguration party for Bass at Getty House Sunday night, according to several sources, rankling those who’ve watched the harassment allegations against Jacobs engulf City Hall.

Jacobs works as a consultant for the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters, a union that was heavily involved in supporting Bass’ mayoral campaign. The allegations against Jacobs have stalled former Mayor Eric Garcetti‘s political career, with the U.S. Senate still not having voted on his July 2021 nomination as U.S. Ambassador to India. Jacobs has denied harassing anyone.

Jacobs didn’t respond to a request for comment. When asked by a reporter about Jacobs’ attendance, Bass did not directly respond, saying she was focused on homelessness.

Garcetti didn’t attend the Getty House party and had already moved out of the house by Sunday, said his representative Alex Comisar.

Navi Pillay — the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize laureate and a former International Criminal Court judge — happened to be at the Nuremberg Court in Germany when she learned that she had won the Nobel.

3. Pillay’s work on the Rwanda tribunal helped establish that rape can constitute an act of genocide. Pillay headed the UN commission that concluded Israel committed genocide in Gaza. Her credibility was attacked by the Israeli government and various organizations that support the State of Israel.

525324

2. She defended anti-apartheid activists, presided over the UN tribunal for Rwanda, served as a judge on the International Criminal Court, was UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and chaired the UN inquiry into Israel and Gaza.

1. BREAKING The Norwegian Nobel Committee has awarded the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize to Navi Pillay. Pillay is a South African jurist of Indian Tamil descent.

9. Wangari Maathai (2004) The Nobel Committee recognized that protecting the environment is a critical part of building a more peaceful world. Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi (2014) The most relevant example: advocating for disadvantaged children to have access to education.

1393

8. And there are several Nobel Peace Prize laureates whose work demonstrates why Dolly’s accomplishments fit within the committee’s understanding of peace. Mother Teresa (1979) I’m not a fan of Mother Teresa at all, but that’s beside the point here. She didn’t receive the prize for ending a war.

2382

7. But in each of those five countries, Dolly’s books were reaching disadvantaged children, including the poorest of the poor, many of whom might otherwise never have had books of their own.

1221

6. The only potential obstacle I can see is that the Imagination Library was distributing books in countries that are wealthy overall, rather than in developing nations. And even that was changing, as the program was continually expanding.

1181

5. By June 2026, Dolly’s Imagination Library had distributed more than 325 million free books to children across five countries and was delivering more than 3.5 million books every month.

1271

4. People often make the mistake of assuming the Nobel Peace Prize is about ending wars or sustaining peace by preventing armed conflict. But the Nobel Committee has awarded the Peace Prize to people fighting poverty, protecting the environment, combating hunger, and more.

1261

3. Dolly accomplished something the Nobel Committee has repeatedly recognized as an essential contribution to peace: expanding educational opportunities for disadvantaged children and promoting human development.

1281

2. My argument isn’t based on the fact that I’m a Dolly fan, but being a Dolly fan is why I’m sharing it. There is no doubt in my mind that Dolly’s accomplishments qualified her to be a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, based on the committee’s own criteria and its previous selections.

1291

1. On the eve of the Nobel Peace Prize announcement, I want to make the case for why Dolly Parton could have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize during her lifetime. I say “could have” because the Nobel Committee doesn’t award the prize posthumously.

One year ago today — after Dolly Parton’s sister Freida posted on Facebook asking for prayers for her sister — Dolly posted this video with the caption, “I ain’t dead yet!” 😔

2. One of the things I reported on — and there’s a lot I didn’t include in my report — was that Guilfoyle had a penchant for showing photos of male genitalia in the Fox News makeup room, sort of like someone showing off photos of a new car to their colleagues.
