New Mexico, do you need a dog to add to your family or your farm? my friend Anne has two puppies available for adoption. They are super sweet, black lab/great pyr mix, 3m old. Could be excellent farm dogs when they grow up! reply here if you or a friend are interested and I'll put you in touch!

seriously people. do better. WEAR A MASK. i will see none of you until this line drops, which at this rate will be March if we're lucky, and I'm mad at all of you for creating this reality.
the updated CDC wastewater tracking data for the state of New Mexico for December 28, 2024 (this is the most recent data at the time of posting). a yellow line with lots of peaks and valleys describes the state's covid transmission levels since 2022. the line representing today is considerably higher than every previous peak and still rising. data from CDC.gov. text overlay reads, "new mexico, y'all are failing very badly here. levels over 8 are considered very high, we are now over 42. highest it's been in the entire pandemic ever. that means 1 out of every 5 people currently has covid. FFS. wear a mask!

I touched a wild horse today! i like to hike the ridges above our house to see the sunset, and sometimes a group of wild horses will be in the area. they don't usually come near, but today this mare walked right up to me and extended her nose to sniff my hand!
close up of the left side of the face of a cinnamon-brown colored horse with a black mane blowing to the right in the breeze. her eye is looking right at the viewer. full body image of the same horse, facing slightly away from the viewer, showing her black forelegs. she's standing in a juniper bush on a rocky hillside, and the bright gold light of the sunset hour shows behind her on the ridgeline. the same horse again, side-on, from further away. you can see the mountains behind her.

Orlando has Opinions
a handsome brown tabby cat lays on a person's lap with his ears slightly back as though annoyed by the large hardback fiction book that rests open on the left arm of the chair. the book is Menewood by Nicola Griffith. a fire burns in the woodstove in the background. Orlando's likely opinion is that the person should be petting him instead of reading.

the yellow line is New Mexico. this is the "post-pandemic" world we've created: higher covid levels than EVER before. this disease exacerbates conditions you have, causes brain inflammation and damage, reduces the effectiveness of your immune system. and it can lead to long covid. please mask up!!
Graph screenshot from the CDC website showing the progression of covid-19 infections in New Mexico, regionally, and nationally, via wastewater tracking, since early 2022. NM is represented by a yellow line which has shot up to the top of the graph and has caused the left-hand scale to compress in order to fit the current excessive rise of covid cases. While national and regional levels are merely in the "moderate" and "high" category, NM has exceeded last year's extraordinarily high spike and appears to be continuing to climb. Data is today's update, showing wastewater tracking through Friday December 14th. CDC wastewater data is always 1-2 weeks behind. text over the image reads, "Covid is now higher than it has EVER been in New Mexico. ever. please mask up!"
