Jayce feels himself grinning. He loves Viktor so much.

"I love you," he says aloud, his pulse throbbing in his chest, heat spreading lower despite the chill of the water around them. He's wanted to say that for so long. "I love you, Viktor."

Viktor's eyes widen, mouth opening soundlessly. Then he chokes out, "I— Jayce!"

"I do," Jayce insists, frowning as Viktor shakes his head like he can't believe it.

"You sweet man," Viktor groans, "You… You darling man. I love you too, Jayce."

It's as if a thousand fireworks go off in Jayce's brain at the revelation. He pulls Viktor back in by the waist again. "Really? You do?"

"Yes. Completely."

Pure, unadulterated joy pours over Jayce like a wave. He needs to hear it again, needs it said over and over until they both grow sick of it. "Y-You do? You love me?" He repeats, feeling more tears stream down his cheeks. He must look a mess, eyes wet and a grin that's bright enough to rival the sun. He can't help it.

i understand that you used to be able to appease authority figures with academics and now you can’t but have you ever imagined what would happen if you never could. do you understand how it might be frustrating hearing about people complain about how they used to be able to do that but now they’re dumb like you and it’s the worst thing that’s ever happened to them. i understand it sucks and im not telling people to stop complaining because it does suck to be disabled but nobody talks about what it’s like to have everyone around you already giving up on you at three years old because they realized you’re not just weird, but weird and stupid. and everyone talks about how the used to be able to escape the punishment that the weird and stupid people got because they were weird and smart
