Early‐Season Warming Advances Autumn Senescence in Temperate Tree Saplings in Association With Early Growth Dynamics
The timing of autumn leaf senescence is driven by external cues such as temperature and photoperiod and is strongly regulated by internal developmental processes. Correlative evidence suggests that e...

(In)determinacy in Woody Plants: Limits and Opportunities for Timing Growth in a Changing Climate
Tree growth is shaped not only by temperature and water availability, but also by intrinsic developmental programming that constrains when and how long meristems remain active. We use (in)determinacy....

Excited to share our new paper on leaf scorching. 🔥Early leaf browning during heat and drought is often interpreted as premature leaf senescence - but it may reflect rapid heat damage. Separating these processes is essential. www.nature.com/articles/s41... @wslresearch.bsky.social

Brand new! Analyzing tree rings in common garden experiments in oak and beech, we show that phenotypic plasticity drives trait variation in both species. However, oak shows, in contrast to beech, also signs of adaptation and genetically-based plasticity. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
