You are being super weird about this mate.

Why am I a BAT? 🦇 @yamiacat.bsky.social · 15h

Yes, the oligarch class has capitalized on the circumstances in fine form, but that doesn't affect the underlying reality. Just because some horrible measures have been taken, doesn't mean the threat isn't real, and complaining about the "insanity" of the immune-compromised just seems... I dunno.

How you feel about the 2nd clause there doesn't effect the reality of the first part.

If you are immune-compromised and a novel airborne virus has become endemic in the population around you, then other people _are_ dangerous! Is that not just a foundation level truth? "other people are dangerous / you mustn’t collectivise but stay indoors on your screen"

Talking about the "insanity" of people trying to avoid being infected with a novel coronavirus seems like your outrage is being misdirected. 🤷

The pandemic is now over? The _mitigation_ efforts are over, but the virus itself is now endemic, so people vulnerable to it need to take extraordinary measures to avoid it, which apparently rubs you the wrong way. It's a lonely wasteland out there because of the lateness of the capitalism...

It's almost as if it's a novel _airborne_ virus that poses significantly more threat to those people post-2020. And you hear about it online because.... those people can't go to IRL spaces anymore? From context, I gather you think covid is "just a cold"?

That post is about immune-compromised people, who don't have a choice? And would rightfully be pretty mad about having an impoverished existence, no?

Saw it for the first time fairly recently. As a lifelong Blade Runner fan, I couldn't help seeing it as "Roy Batty Hits The Road" 😆

Yeah, absolutely top quality weirdness! I got my parents to buy me the Birdhouse In Your Soul single on vinyl when it was popular, and then a few years later when I started actively listening to music more, I got the album and it wrenched my tastes much further open... 🤯

Man, the French really do some great electronic music!

Yeah, I can see that! She's freakin' adorable!

I'm assuming she was an influence on the people that came up with the archetype later, right?!

"what with the capitalism being so late and all." is such a good line

Oh man, there is a perfect line in Camp Miasma that I'm clearly gonna need to gif myself, hang on 😆

That is a problem, but it's a problem shared by basically all tv and movie adaptations, right? Seems weird to single this show out on that basis...

Why am I a BAT? 🦇 @yamiacat.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

I haven't read the book, it's been a loooong time since I saw the movie, and basically it seems like a fine Mike Flanagan product to me...

Why am I a BAT? 🦇 @yamiacat.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

Yeah, I found it super underwhelming. No suspense at all, and everyone is terrible at their job....

There are a LOT of cameos from the BSG cast, plus a few in main roles. Also, the soundtrack sounds like 65daysofstatic which I dig...

Yeah, woulda thought he'd pop up almost right away!

Yeah, I was just looking that up! "Drive" had a whole bunch of French electro on the soundtrack, it seems!

Wow, yeah, I've never heard of petals being used as skins! 🤯

Since I haven't found a more elegant way to shoehorn this in, and you're the main person who's gonna appreciate it, I'll just leave this NOT A TOKEN here...
