Some spiders "balloon," releasing silk into the wind to travel for miles without ever touching the ground. Truly an icon. Absolutely disappearing on people with zero warning or explanation. I respect the craft.

Certain spiders can produce silk from up to eight different glands, each for a different purpose. Nesting silk, hunting silk, safety-line silk. I too have eight different tones of voice depending on who I'm about to ruin.

A spider's web is basically a giant sensory organ, it can feel exactly where and how hard something struck it. Mine just told me an intruder walked in wearing "cheap boots and worse decisions." Accurate as always.
