i think this is pretty cool/impressive? is a couple days not a good turnaround time for that?

χvln @xvln.art · 21/08/2026

oh, they do. anything big and sprawling enough will have read order guides. you can find a million of them for brandon sanderson's stuff, for example i think most of the time you should just read/watch/play in release order. but i also don't think it's the end of the world if you go out of order

this is so good!

χvln @xvln.art · 15/08/2026

oh i totally misinterpreted what you were saying. i thought you meant it only had something to say superficially at the start. yeah, i agree then.

idk, a lot of it hits very different if you read catgirl as black/brown/etc. for example, a character being uncomfortable with a bunch of catgirls in her apartment and telling themself "they tend to be nice, right?" feels very much like subtle racism i've seen a lot. it's low key full of this stuff

oh! this is extremely cute!

this is crazy good. love the minimalism

was going through old chat logs and came across an imgur album containing some of my old (circa 2018) pixel art imgur.com/a/8gLNCg9 (cw: mild nsfw/gore) not gonna repost them (to avoid polluting my media tab with ancient stuff), but still neat. still fond of the sword girl and the witch

oh, weird. i mean, for my stuff an 8x scale might result in a 3200x3200 image (that was the scale for my most recent) which seems excessive (altho it looks like that piece at that scale ends up as a 34kb png, which doesn't seem that bad... altho it still would be a bit hard on clients to render)

χvln @xvln.art · 02/07/2026

interesting, nice to know. and yeah i upload after upscaling (to 3x, since 8x would be crazy for the resolution i work in), which does help. i was just... hoping there was some trick to get them to preserve the input better like there used to be for tweeto 😭

is there any way to avoid bsky mangling (pixel) art with lossy compression? it's pretty annoying that even if the input is smaller, it lossily recompresses it (i uploaded a crisp 19kb png and it turned it into a 54kb webp, adding plenty of compression artifacts in the process 🫠)

this is a cute premise

holy crap this is crazy good 😭

thanks :). i notice my knowledge gaps most when helping newbies, since they often ask questions that push into areas where i'm bad. "how do you do gradients in pixel art without using a ton of colors or making it look bad?" uhhh... well i don't do that in my art lol. something something dithering? 😭

021

i can't unsee this now wtf

000

well, either way it's incredible. it makes me want to push myself with art more. i have a habit of only doing the parts of a drawing which are fun/easy for me, and neglecting anything i haven't already 'put the work in' on, such as color and fundamentals of pixel art (let alone like, backgrounds)

i think it's beautiful as it is, but i'm sure the finished work would be incredible.

i haven't been wowed by a piece this much in a while. the color use, the detail, the composition, the feel... everything about it is incredible

u make pixel jaggies look good, damn

this is crazy. masterful use of color.

1bit is so hard, but it always evokes such a mood. looks great

thank you! i think it came out really good!

these are so cute omg

glad you like it!

χvln @xvln.art · 19/06/2026

this is the good shit

is there somewhere where you describe what this is? it *looks* like it might be up my alley, but i can't tell what it is, really
