Near Flesh, short stories, Katherine Dunn. Loved all but one story, I wish she’d written more before her death. An Asian Minor, the true story of Ganymede, a retelling of the greek myth; and The Deformity Lover & other poems, both by Felice Picano. Both decent if somewhat short reads. Books 5, 8 & 9

Toad, Katherine Dunn. Purchased when released but put off reading due to negative reviews claiming that none of the characters are likeable. I really enjoyed it, nearly as much as Geek Love. The story of a struggling, flawed, lonely, awkward woman. Felt a real connection to the main character. Bk6&7

Another slightly shorted Nereid Worm. Found at Duck Pond Beach in the Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick Canada. Near the end of the video the worm appears to get stuck under a piece of seaweed, and inflates part of its body, under the head, to free itself. #nereidworm #bayoffundy #tidalpool

Two by Dr Seuss. The Seven Lady Godivas. An adult oriented book about 7 naturist daughters, seeking horse facts. Fun-ish but lacked the whimsey of Seuss’s more childish works. Horton and the Kwuggerbug. Some stories & minimal art released posthumously. More money-grab than something essential. B3&4.

Project Lambda - Paul O’M. Welles, ‘79, & Queer Free - Alabama Birdstone, ‘81. Genocide of queer people by the religious right in the US. Lambda is well written but w straightwashed “masc” wealthy gays, Queer Free needed an editor and a rewrite but had more believable, sexual, queer characters. B1&2

Bossons Chalkware, titled “Syrian”. My aunt gifted me 20 of these busts. As a child her wall of heads terrified & excited me. Many are chipped. Not perfect repair, the air dry clay shrinks considerably but with some wood glue and acrylic paint it will do for displaying them. #Bossons #Chalkware

Notes from a Marriage, by Gavin Geoffrey Dillard. So-so. Read in less than half an hour. Photos are mediocre, poems meander and had me wanting to be finished with it sooner. Written in 1983 and rereleased for some unknown reason. Thankfully inexpensive. Book 25 and last one for the year.

Last Summer at Bluefish Cove by Jane Chambers. A great play. Close-knit group of lesbian friends are surprised to find that a recently divorced straight woman has rented a cabins in their usual summer vacation spot. Together they face insecurities, jealousy, preconceived notions, & cancer. Book 24

The Official Sex Manual by Gerald Sussman nearly broke my brain. I had expected a prim & sterile book written in 1965, not a sex guide for an unknown life form. Part of me thought it was a modern hoax made to look like an older book. It makes sense only when you consider hallucinogenics. Book 19.

Turns out poetry may not be for me, I was lost and drifted durning most of Lassell’s. Books 16, 17 & 18.

“Mona of the Manor” was enjoyable, last book in the Tales of the City series. “Misadventures in the (213)” tried so hard to be in the same vein as Tales of the... It suffers from dull humour, bad writing, pomp & racism. Jam packed with a list of celebrity names no one cares/ed about. Books 14 & 15.

Found lamps in a box on the curb, 1 had a small piece broken off. Made a quick mould with putty, froze it, filled it with J-B Weld Steelstik & stuck it on using Gorilla Glue. Not a perfect match, but after some trimming, shaping & mixing a few shade of metallic paint, it will do. Now to find Shades!

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Minicomic Collection. At 1200+ pages a painfully heavy book to read. The content started off promising & nostalgic, but quickly spiralled into lazy writing to sell increasingly stupid products. A handful of She-Ra and later He-Man comics thrown in. Book 13.
