Check out our new paper! 🦠🌊We use theoretical modeling and metagenomics to explore different "lifestyles" among marine denitrifiers, major drivers of nitrogen loss. Our results suggest that increasing organic matter does not necessarily promote copiotrophs! academic.oup.com/ismej/advanc...

This work started with a whiteboard discussion with @liangxu.bsky.social, where we sketched out a network of different microbial functional groups and filled the board with equations. It was an incredibly fun journey, and I truly enjoyed working together with the three of us throughout the project.
