It turns out the bitly link points to twitter, which again is working just fine according to that curmudgeon who probably never checks the actual website the way those of us not using the app do.

Half the time I click a twitter link I get this screen that say “Something went wrong. Try reloading.” and offers a Retry button that usually also fails.

Aside from the weirdness of relying on a random company like bitly for a government-powered law-enforcement community alert, I discovered a flaw related to the main point of this thread. I got a Silver Alert yesterday and today I clicked on the bitly link in the notif to see the actual details.
