I finished reading The Reformatory by Tananarive Due last night. It’s a haunting story about a young boy & his sister navigating life after the boy is sent to a reformatory school in Jim Crow Florida during the 1950s. If you’re looking for a good southern gothic horror story, I highly recommend it

Having a political party member elected a position that they haven’t held in well over a century is wild. Places were flipped that have never been flipped before. Apparently in Bucks County, PA the current administration went after the community or someone in the community. He stood up for them

He is the first Democrat to be elected District Attorney in the county since the 1800s.

Seeing ppl take this out of context,so here’s the part that directly follows the one below. As a fan of Butler’s work, she believed that there were answers to the problems we have. The issue is that ppl here have no imagination or hope & would rather complain & give up instead of putting in the work
"There isn't one," I told him.
"No answer? You mean we're just doomed?" He smiled
as though he thought this might be a joke.
"No," | said. "I mean there's no single answer that will solve all of our future problems. There's no magic bullet. Instead there are thousands of answers-at least.
You can be one of them if you choose to be."
Several days later, by mail, I received a copy of the young man's story in his college newspaper. He mentioned my talk, listed some of my books and the future problems they dealt with. Then he quoted his own question: "What's the answer?" The article ended with the first three words of my reply, wrongly left standing alone: "There isn't one."

Butler, in fact, DID give us an answer & we CAN solve these problems. The question is how many of us will be WILLING to put in the work instead of engaging in paralyzing fatalistic thinking that only leads to stagnation & not the change & solutions to the problems Butler outlined
"There isn't one," I told him.
