They didn't even give it a full year before pulling the plug. The game had its flaws, but it's biggest failure was riot not believing in it. The game had so much potential, but it was never backed by riot in a way that would nourish a rabid player base.

Id like a card game version of Age Of Empires. The idea of building your board state to reflect your civilization, being able to build a deck for cav, or siege, or Infantry, and having clear counters for each, so you're constantly trying to produce units to counter your opponents.
