Told Tycho to come inside after playing in the yard and get a meatball before dinner. Realized I had no meatballs and the store closed in an hour, so loaded him up in the car and drove there get him some. Because I felt very guilty for promising him something I thought I had but didn't.

Over a year later and my brain still occasionally doubles back to "I am committed to this (getting Tycho) and committed to you." I wish that had been the truth, and even though it wasn't, I'm still holding up my end of the bargain. Vet bills, sleepless nights...I push through, because I promised.
