I've had to start teaching (formally) grad students that "AI" is really "machine learning" which is just high dimension curve fitting and everyone is trying to extrapolate that fit. And since it is a stats model/fit curve, numerical methods tells us those curves go WHEEEeeEeEe on extrapolate.

Satisfactory's ADA who says something like "I compounded Sulfur's Tristatic Atom Matrix into a Quadridimensional Gate Vortex..." into "anyways, you can carry more stuff."

I've noticed writers use evolution for their pseudo base when a large population needs powers. Meanwhile, more fun and creative ish comes from random one off psuedo-science or lampshade hangs. Gamma rays? Radioactive spider? Two gods punching each other (Umbrella Academy)? Hell yes.
