On the trail yesterday in Hong Kong. Had a lazy weekend in general, so I decided to go out. Hiked from Tin Wan to HKU, via Pok Fu Lam Reservoir. Hadn’t walked along the reservoir for some years.

Just found this statistic, via HKFP. In Hong Kong, we count a “hot night” when the daily minimum temperature is 28 degrees or above. Since I have been living here (2015), there have been an average of 46 hot nights a year. The record year was 2021, with an all-time record of 61.

Well, yes. I was 2019 and 2024 (?). And it gets very busy. It was actually not too much fun to take a boat tour anymore. Just ahead of COVID, it was much better.

Ok, I had my lunch. But now I have a feeling that I should go for an afternoon hike. My Watch tells me that I haven't moved so much this week (thanks to a business trip), and I am feeling lazy. Signs it's about time to go out.

Here in Ho Chi Minh City, it got suddenly very wet. Firefighters run around, spraying water in the air. The good news is, it’s just a fire drill. But I actually never saw a fire drill with water and the firefighters in action.

Before leaving Hong Kong again, I was on a short hike. My Apple Watch told me that I’ve just hit 3500 minutes of hiking in 2026. Even with my holidays and trips during this year, hiking is still one of my most favorite workouts.
