MAJOR HURRICANE: As of 7:20am, Hurricane Isaias has stregthened into a major category 3 storm with sustained winds of 120 mph. Back on Tuesday, I told you this was a possibility and here it is. Landfall expected to occur later tonight.

ISAIAS: Formed this morning. No significant changes to the forecast. It is still expected to intensify to a hurricane in the next 24 hours. Texas is on the sinking side of this tropical system and only impact will be slightly higher temperatures.

TRACKING THE TROPICS: Tropical Depression Nine has formed in the Gulf. This system will strengthen into this year's first hurricane of the season. It is not expected to impact Texas. It could potentially become a major category 3 hurricane prior to landfall.

1:27PM (10-1-26): Flash Flood Warning issued for Bexar county until 7pm. Up to 2.5" has fallen in parts of the county and an additional 1-3" is possible.

FLOOD ADVISORY (10-1-26): NWS has issued a Flood Advisory for Bexar county through 3pm. Rainfall rates of 1-2" per hour with a brief spike to 3" an hour is possible.

10:22AM (10-1-26): Moderate to heavy rainfall is moving into Bexar county. Some of this rain could lead to isolated flash flooding. Stay weather aware the rest of this morning and afternoon.

FLOOD WATCH: Was just issued for South Central Texas. This does include the San Antonio area. This goes into effect starting Wednesday evening through Friday evening. Widespread 2-4" with isolated over 8" possible.

FLASH FLOODING LIKELY LATER THIS WEEK: Within the past hour the Weather Prediction Center has upgraded our flash flood threat to a Moderate Risk (4 out of 5). This does include the San Antonio area. The biggest day of concern will be on Thursday.

9:51PM (9-20-26): A few showers have developed along the I-35 corridor with the collision of two outflow boundaries. Lightning could be possible if the storms continue to intensify.

8:28PM (9-20-26): There are storms in the Hill Country that are slowly moving southeast. I'm going to be watching two outflow boundaries that could potentially ignite new thunderstorm activity in the San Antonio area within the hour. It's a wait and see situation.

2:09PM (9-18-26): Scattered showers and storms continue across San Antonio. Another area of storms is moving in from the southwest. Storms are not severe but brief locally heavy rain possible.

DROUGHT UPDATE: Today's update showed the drought expanding across Texas including South Texas. The Climate Prediction Center came out with their seasonal outlook and say that the drought will improve and/or go away. This is because El Niño is expected to bring more precipitation to Texas.

NEAR RECORD HEAT THIS WEEK: We'll be near, tie, or break some records the next few days. This could potentially be the final week we see triple digits this year. Next week, I see a pattern shift where rain chances will be increasing. Woo-hoo!!!

SUNDAY PM TROPICAL UPDATE: NHC has increased the potential for tropical development to 70%. Hurricane Hunters are scheduled to investigate this disturbance Monday morning. All interests along the Upper Texas coast need to monitor this situation.

TRACKING THE TROPICS(8-30-26): Hurricane Ctr. has flagged an area for tropical development. This disturbance could be a tropical depression or tropical storm prior to making landfall on Tuesday near Houston. This could move over Central TX and could increase rain chances for SA area later this week.

10:59PM: Storms have exited Bexar county. One of the causes of widespread power outages was the high wind gusts. San Antonio Int'l reported 52 mph wind gusts. Kelly Airfield reported a 59 mph wind gust.

9:30PM: Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Bexar county until 10:15pm. Storms moving southwest at 30 mph. 60 mph wind gusts possible and nickle size hail possible. Storm damage reported at Heroes Stadium.

6:03PM: We're not done with the rain in San Antonio just yet. There is an outflow boundary about to move into northern Bexar county. This could bring some gusty winds and spark off new storms. There are storms around Blanco that are moving in our direction too.

INCREASING RAIN CHANCES: On Thursday, a weak boundary is expected to kick off showers and few storms. Severe not expected but gusts could get up to 45 mph near those storms. Don't focus on coverage of the storms, it might be a little less than what is depicted here. Nevertheless, it's a chance. 😀

DANGEROUS HEAT: NWS has issued a Heat Advisory for the San Antonio from Thursday, August 20th all the way through Sunday, August 23rd. High temps 102°+ with heat index values up to 110°. Stay cool, hydrated, and take frequent breaks if working outdoors.

8-1-26 5:26PM: Storms have developed in Southern Bexar county. Isolated storms will still be possible over the next few hours but coverage will be limited. Stronger storms will remain west of San Antonio.

STRONG STORMS POSSIBLE ON SATURDAY (8-1-26): A weak cold front is expected to arrive in the afternoon from the north. This front will bring a chance for strong storms that could contain locally heavy rain, wind gusts to 50-55 mph, frequent lightning and small hail. 1/3

BERTHA NO MORE: As of 10pm, The National Hurricane Center has issued their last advisory on Bertha. It's now considered the remnants of Bertha. There are some showers and isolated storms on the radar. I expect some of that to move into San Antonio shortly. No severe weather expected.

BERTHA: Has made landfall near the Texas/Louisiana border. The heavy rain and storms will be moving onshore shortly along the coast. In San Antonio, we have a chance for showers and isolated storms after 11pm this evening. Bertha will quickly weaken over the next 8-10 hours.

TRIPLE DIGITS: Many cities reached the triple digits today including San Antonio. This is our first triple digit day in 2026. Tomorrow, we have another chance. Next week, more 100 degree days are likely for the San Antonio area.

BERTHA WED. AM UPDATE 7-22-26: Nat'l Hurricane Ctr. has modified the forecast track to be in better alignment with numerous models that are now showing this will be heading toward South Texas.

THURSDAY (7-23-26): NWS has extended the Heat Advisory through Thursday evening. Something else to note, smoke north of us will be moving south due in part thanks to Tropical Storm Bertha. There is also some Saharan dust out there but very minimal levels. Skies will be a little bit hazy tomorrow.

THE NEXT FEW DAYS: Tomorrow we're going to make a run at our first triple digit day in San Antonio. Heat indices will be near 107°. Heat indices will remain in the triple digits through next week. Just note that Thursday and Friday mornings will be in the low 80s so we're not cooling off at night.

BERTHA: Earlier this evening the Nat'l Hurricane Center upgraded TD Two to Tropical Storm Bertha. The forecast track remains unchanged. As it gets close to Texas it will weaken significantly and become an area of low pressure, if that. Still bears monitoring so check back often for updates.
