8 P.M. RADAR UPDATE: Rain will continue to push through the Rainy River Basin region of the Northland over the next several hours. Some heavy rainfall is possible in spots. A bit of minor flooding is not out of the question, but not the greatest risk.
A view of the radar over the Rainy River Basin region of the Northland at 8 p.m. on September 28, 2026, shows light rain showers passing through, which has been the case so far this Monday evening. A band of heavy rain north and west of Bemidji is moving towards this region from southwest to northeast. It will pass over the next several hours. The Weather Prediction Center has placed Koochiching and adjacent areas of Itasca and St. Louis counties under a "slight risk" category for excessive rainfall through Monday night. Recent discussion by the center indicates that there could be a few spots that could see over 2-inches of new rainfall due to the training variety of rain showers pushing through northern Minnesota. Minor flooding is possible in low lying spots because of this, but the threat remains low given the dry conditions over recent weeks.
