There’s an entire ceremony dedicated to naming gorilla infants! 🦍 Every year in Rwanda, ‘Kwita Izina’ (the naming ceremony) brings people together to celebrate conservation success and the teamwork helping mountain gorillas recover. This year’s names include Mucyo, Inkera, Nkwakuzi, and Mpinga.

Good news for your feed: Black rhino numbers in Tanzania have more than doubled since 2014, rising from 142 to 285 in 2025. These promising results from the latest census reflect years of dedication from government authorities, WWF,  rangers, partners and community members. 🦏

Researchers from the University of Dar es Salaam, supported by WWF, deployed 26 camera traps throughout the JUHIWANGUMA Wildlife Management Area. The cameras captured thousands of images that have now revealed one of the most comprehensive snapshots of wildlife in the area.

There's been a lot of talk about them, but now there's finally photographic proof of Eurasian lynxes in Sikkim, India. 📸 These camera trap images are part of a long-term snow leopard & rangeland monitoring programme, helping to track wildlife and the health of trans-Himalayan rangelands.

Penguins, seabirds, seals and whales all depend on one tiny creature: krill. And they're having to compete with commercial fishing fleets for it. That's why WWF is calling for a moratorium on krill fishing around the Antarctic Peninsula, and Marine Protected Areas to safeguard the Southern Ocean.

Collaring and tracking elephants helps us understand their movements, health and behaviour, and learn how we can best protect them. It also means someone has to give them names. And someone decided that these two should be called 'Kevin' and 'Edwin'. 🥺

The impacts of rising temperatures don't stop on land. These underwater meadows are important for coastal protection and carbon storage, as well as wildlife habitats. With so much of Britain's seagrass already gone, restoring it is becoming more and more important. www.itv.com/news/2026-08...

Specially fitted GPS collars help WWF teams follow elephant journeys. But sometimes elephants trek to places that are harder for people to follow. 🐘 This is where drones come in! They're a brilliant way to survey elephants without putting people or wildlife in danger. #WorldElephantDay
