A week ago Saturday would have been Penelope's 19th birthday. To remember her, we went to her favorite park. The stream was very high and muddy and looked like a chocolate river, like it was in honor of her forbidden love of chocolate. Also there were some really fast duckies, so that was nice.

This is not how I'd recommend responding to a paying customer who expressed they actually really liked your service but asked for your NPM package to have a normal open source license.

A GitHub issue titled "A usable open source license?"

The reporter wrote: "First off, I really love Zapier for everything I've used it for so far. Unfortunately, I don't like the license of this repo. Having a non-OSI approved license is really out of the norm for NPM packages. If we're going to run the code on our machines and we can see the code, what gain is there in preventing us for building on the code or reusing bits of it elsewhere? Is there any chance this license can be corrected?

At the very least, can the license of the example apps be under an OSI license? If you read the license in a conservative manner, if I take an example app template, and make an app out of it, it's not clear I can copy any of the code that I created into anything else I write. It also means I can't release my app under an open source license for the open source donation platform I use. That just doesn't seem like a good result for anyone."

On a much lighter note than most things I've posted as of late, I visited the Stavkirke on Washington Island. Due to the island's history of Norwegian immigration, the local ELCA church built a replica of one built in Norway in 1150. It's awe-inspiring. If you're near Door County, Wisconsin, go.

The Authors Guild agreeing to settle with Anthropic for $2200 each after Anthropic already lost is controversial among authors and society. I think it's useful to compare this with sinilar situations from the past. For example, Judas made way more than that.
