Some folks are excitedly looking at their catalogues but before I open my wallet, I'm getting my own seeds in order. I do need more pill bottles.

Life of Chuck I missed the sneak preview of this a few weeks ago but as soon as I saw it was coming to the Hyland Cinema on its opening day I picked up a ticket (and renewed my membership!)

Been thinking hard the last little while about why I never vote Conservative provincially or federally despite sometimes knowing people who are running. I think the common thread I've seen that I can never let go of is how they constantly take things paid for by the public and sell them off.

The new Captain America comes out soon in which Harrison Ford plays the US President who just so happens to turn into a red version of The Hulk. At least in the comics his rage doesn't make him stronger, but instead causes him to radiate heat. Queue the Orange Hulk/hot air memes

At a time when we need our premier's eye to be on the ball he instead thinks it's the time for the distraction of an election. To use the premise that "he needs the mandate of the vote" now, when it's never mattered to him before is pretty ridiculous

A gritty, spiraling self-exposure of obviously talented Robbie Williams. It shared some emotional notes from Bohemian Rhapsody while being brave enough to swing for the fences artistically like the recent Pharrell Piece by Piece film. It's such a shame it wasn't well received at the box office.

A seed was planted a few weeks ago to do a non-fiction armchair adventure world tour. Some titles were things I'd set down and have meant to finish, otherwise serendipitous finds or recommendations from friends.
Thoreau - Walden and Civil Disobedience
Neil King Jr - American Ramble
Neil Peart - Ghost Rider
Jedidiah Jenkins - Mother, Nature
Ernesto "Che" Guevara - The Motorcycle Diaries
Dominic Gill - Take a Seat
George Fetherling - Running Away to Sea
Rick Ridgeway - Life Lived Wild
Katherine Krige - Roughing it in Africa
Polly Evans - It's Not About the Tapas
Raynor Winn - The Salt Path
David A. Wilson - Ireland, a Bicycle, and a Tin Whistle
Torbjørn Ekelund - The Boy and the Mountain: A Father, His Son, and a Journey of Discovery
Adam Shoalts - Where the Falcon Flies
Brian Castner - Disappointment River
Grant Lawrence - Adventures in Solitude

More and more cities are going to be looking to invest big for a golden egg, hoping the consequences of losing their proverbial cow doesn't come back to bite them while they wait for the beanstalk to grow and the giant to be in a good mood.

Been put in my place by a migraine since last night, so I wasn't sure I'd continue the Taco train this week (or even remember it was Tuesday for that matter) but pulled it together with a simple baked fish base. I'll probably be grateful I ate something later #TacoTuesday

Mummers is a Newfoundland Christmas tradition akin to (my take) a cross between carolling & trick or treating. My friends had this lovely little Mummers statue who was experiencing some technical difficulties so I offered to patch the fellow up so they could enjoy a bright holiday season

The best thing about #tacotuesday so far is it forces me to creatively use up some perishables in the fridge. Tonight was a healthy serving of smokey chicken ranchero with spinach, peppers, tomatoes and onions. Light but filling and quick one pan meal.

Random thought today: Luke, Han & gang rescued Leia from the Death Star and then returned to blow it up. Luke killed a *lot* of the enemy, but there were other detention cells. Were they empty? Lots of room on the Falcon to carry more POWs. But nope, Luke killed them and got a medal. #starwars

I picked up this 20V Mastercraft electric shovel a few years ago when I was recovering from a torn rotator cuff injury. It's a nice compromise between a regular shovel and a snow blower. Light, takes little room, saves back but still exercise, reasonable price, great battery life 2 thumbs up

So I guess the real purpose of this chain of posts, is that I'm wondering is there something in #ldnont that has developed in the last 5 years I've been under a rock. A group of #maker types doing inspirational creative things. I never had to look before, I simply fell into it serendipitously.

What I've found lacking with the #repaircafe events is the creative component, the inspiring of one another. I have/had great hopes for The Labs space @londonlibrary.bsky.social, but I don't know if I've seen a #maker community develop there. If it has, I've somehow missed it and that's on me

Seasons change, and while those people, many whom were friends that became family, branched to different paths I feel like the #maker community in #ldnont faded dramatically not long after. The closest I've found has been the #repaircafe sessions that started slightly before the pandemic.

Last weekend a friend gifted me this 3D printer. I'm sure it will prove a useful tool and grateful he thought of me. But he came with a burning question that has haunted me since. He thought I might be in the know of where to connect in #ldnont with the #maker community like the one in that video

10 years ago last night I took part in a 24 hour Make-A-Thon. I never got to share this video because copyright on music wouldn't permit it. I often feel that if you can't commit an entire day to something, are you really passionate about it? But why do I dig up this old memory? #maker #ldnont

One of the great things about being able to freeze-dry my surplus perishables is adhoc Taco Tuesday. The taco beef, salsa, sour cream and guacamole were all preserved earlier in the year and the shells keep forever in the fridge so fresh greens were all I needed to pull dinner together

There was a hack that went around a little while ago about using a paper towel and some water (for full clean add a drop of soap) to clean containers /w lids. Especially useful at work or for dried on and messy ones. I hated wasting a paper towel though so recently I started using my spent tea bags
