The problem I have with the NDP is that they are more of a movement than a political party. Political parties have to make compromises. Movements don't.

The irony here is that you (James) live in a bubble and it would seem that you don't realize it. Maybe your bubble is bigger than others, but it is still a bubble.

1980 federal election. The PC's lost a confidence vote, but they still had to call an election.

I'm curious if anything happened in Japan back in say 1945 that might make the accurate record keeping of its citizens' birth records questionable.

Except I've never seen anyone on Bluesky argue that. The argument I've seen is that the Dems won't reverse anything meaningful that gets negotiated with Trump. Since that was proven during the 4 years of the Biden presidency, I think that is the most likely outcome.

Why stop with the film industry. Bring all industries back to America. Maybe call it America First. While you’re at it, maybe get rid of those immigrants too. Idiot.

Don't get me wrong. This is well written and probably the ideal way to decouple from America in a way that allows us to prosper. However it is just one more in a long list of articles I've read that posit that the solution for Canada just happens to be the author's passion project. (+ bourbon sucks)

I was reading the Globe this morning, saw the headline, saw the author and said "Nope. Not going to read that."

If you're going to get angry about hypotheticals that you yourself create then you're going to be angry all the time.

The radical left has always viewed the moderate left as its main adversary. The extreme example was 1930's Germany where the left far outnumbered the right in popular support, but the Communists viewed the Social Democrats as their main opponent giving the Nazis a free lane to power.

Political people are shocked that a Mandami supporter can vote for a fascist. Regular ordinary people don’t view politics that way. In the real world there is no left or right. There is keeping things the same or changing things.

If I were an American I would probably feel the exact same way. But you should probably listen and try to understand how people outside your country view things. Or keep doing you. It seems to be working wonderfully.

You live in a democracy. You don't get to disassociate yourself from your country's actions just because you didn't vote for the current government. Its actions are your actions.

I know you want Trump to be the worst of you but he is in fact you (the USA) As a Canadian, I was willing to wait out the first term and accept that you made a mistake. But you voted for him again. You may not want to accept that, but supporting anything USA is supporting Trump. He is you.

because the provinces aren't properly funding higher education. This is not a federal problem that requires federal solutions.

Except you never said this isn't a joke. You said the rest of the world takes it seriously. Meaning this joke is having a negative impact on the US so the US media should report on the damage it is causing. It is still just a joke. Makes me want to say Fuck You.
