If you mean MPs, why so low? If trends continue there exists a possibility for a Green government, which I hope is accounted for.

It's easy to fulfil their promises then there was nothing of substance. As for Starmer's pledges during his leadership bid and most of Labour's left-wing policies, they've U-turned on them all.

What are you talking about? Plaid is nothing like Reform, except perhaps the nationalism which is not a good part of either. What makes Plaid good is standing up for minorities and being left-wing, unlike Labour and Reform.

The working class is anyone who makes their money through working, rather than owning. It existed back then and still exists now.

Please elaborate cos as a Brit this is an insane comparison. Labour is comparable to the Democrats, Reform to Republicans and Greens to the Dem left, with Zack being like Mamdani.

Maybe you ought to consider that not everyone feels obligated to vote for a specific party, and if one party starts opposing them, they will take their vote away.

12% for Greens is a 2% increase, not decrease.

More like 33% because I'm not giving credence to the Tory voters either. Even then, I'd want to know what reasons they give for voting Lib Dem and Labour since the former has a broad coalition of voters and the latter's policies aren't much better than Reform or Tory ATM.

I don't think there's any society without some portion of people with bigoted views, but what you can do is reduce that group, stop people joining it and then stop those who stay be afraid of espousing them to promote them and make other people's lives miserable.

There definitely has been a rise in open hatred recently and I think a realistic sign of a better society is when people are socialised to be anti-racist from birth; existing racists who can be swayed are swayed, and the unwavering racists are too scared to be open about it.

I don't know if I'd trust anything from a Dan Hodges Daily Mail piece, but IIRC I've seen similar reports about cabinet members from more reputable sources so I'll read it and imagine it being true cos it's funny!

Which means that a demographic voting Labour or Lib Dem a lot indicates they tend to be left-wing. Which is what Owen is saying and also suggests they could be moved over to an actual leftist party in the future. So it's still a good sign.
010
wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 07/09/2025
A lot of people are pointing out that Labour isn't exactly 'left-of-centre' anymore but I've seen a lot of polling on social attitudes broken down by party, and most Labour (and Lib Dem) voters remain generally progressive even if the party isn't.

Now Zack Polanski's leader of the Greens - an openly pro-trans leader of a pro-trans party who's very good with media - I'm hoping to see previous supporters join an actually good party for once.

Parts 1 and 2 are nothing-burgers in the scale of things with that amount of money. 3 I absolutely don't want and it's only appealing to gammons who shouldn't be voting Labour.

wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 01/09/2025
So the voters who are generally anti-immigration believe Labour is making the rules looser and only Labour and Lib Dem voters, who generally aren't obsessed with immigration, think its getting stricter. So no one was appeased by rights getting cut.

The problem here is the framing. "Greens need to join Corbyn"; Zack is very vocal about wanting to ally, whereas Corbyn and Sultana aren't as much. Besides, how can they ally when they don't have a party yet?

100
wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 05/08/2025
I think bordenstan agrees but the point is that parties are acting against the wishes of the voters as they manufacture their own politics. They push the country right while pretending it was already right-wing and are just being democratic.
010
wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 05/08/2025
Yeah that's the worry. It's not really honest for them to present the party as democratic so everything can be decided by the members, when Corbyn clearly leads it enough to state that several leftist values will be held by the party. Why isn't trans rights one of them?
040
wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 04/08/2025
Although since Corbyn is such a major part of the party that it's hard to imagine him not leading the party in some form, him being bad on the issue is more worrying for the prospects of who is leader.

wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 04/08/2025
Does anyone know the last time Sultana voiced support for trans people publicly? Because her silence to me is probably a lot more worrying than Corbyn since she is seen as more 'Mamdani'-like; being bold about her opinions. So her being silent is a big red-flag, although its bad for both of them OFC

wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 04/08/2025
Sorry for me and other replies not understanding you at first but the wording does resemble the "it's fine to leave it to members" arguments so it's understandable we're confused. Probably should've said "If conference will pass it anyway, why shouldn't Corbyn support trans people now?"
100
wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 04/08/2025
I think he should be talking about it more since he has talked about his other positions and connected them to the party; it is an important one generally and especially to distinguish himself from "gender-critical" ""leftists"" that might join, including Gaza independents.
040
wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 04/08/2025
If it's all so member-led, why did it only come about when Corbyn and Sultana decided to make it? Clearly they lead this movement to some extent, as they are able to claim that this party will reflect their beliefs, e.g. about building council homes.
110
wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 04/08/2025
by setting this all up in the first place, leading to leftists joining specifically. Hence why despite not having any policy, he can tell us that the party will represent his values. So he can direct the party and therefore promote trans rights and not just leave it to the members to decide.
000
wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 04/08/2025
The democratic nature to the extent of having the mailing list decide the name is silly because it's kinda dishonest - if everything was democractic and built bottom up, it would be a pretty centrist party because EVERYONE would be getting involved. But Corbyn's leadership is clearly steering it -
100
wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 04/08/2025
There has to be a balance between defining the direction top down and bottom up, because if it was all bottom up, this party would have formed already without Corbyn or Sultana, fully by the people. But to some extent, Corbyn and Sultana already 'lead' it.
100
wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 04/08/2025
I initally agreed with you when the party was announced that not having policy defined for an important issue was OK as the point was it was democratically defined, which is preferable to having it set top down and hoping the leaders are good. But the problem is direction.
110
wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 03/08/2025
As a Green party member, you are correct. People outside the party project this image onto us and although those groups exist, the progressive side is clearly much bigger. It's obvious from the outside when you see how every of the 39 seats where Greens came 2nd last election was to Labour in cities

From what I understand, the biggest gain in Green vote share before the election was around the time Carla started doing some interviews with leftist outlets. The idea that being an MP will get you traction is silly because he hasn't got much of any since 2024 and most MPs are irrelevant.

wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 29/07/2025
I don't know much about any of the candidates because its a smaller party that I only joined recently. But Mothin does seem to be big in his community and he has a decently big gardening channel.
011
wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 29/07/2025
Sultana and Corbyn only work in that regard because they haven't formed a party yet. If they decide to work with the Gaza Independents, I wouldn't trust some of them on trans issues, since I've heard some of them are social conservatives.
120
wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 25/07/2025
Yeah, the kinds of seats that Labour used to easily win are ripe pickings for Greens now, as they tend to be full of progressive leftists that the Greens actually represent.
010
wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 24/07/2025
Probably due to Corbyn's party not existing yet and Greens being busy with a leadership election that could affect the deal a lot. If Zack becomes leader, Greens should be ready to go but I doubt [INSERT PARTY NAME] will respond soon.

wumpyjumps.bsky.social @wumpyjumps.bsky.social · 23/07/2025
It depends on your constituency IG. I'd vote Plaid if I was in parts of Wales where they are likely to win. Where I'm from, it's hard to not vote Lib Dem when last election was the first one without Tory rule, and a socialist Greens probably won't be very big in my specific area.

Those FT graphs include the UK and show both young men and women being very left wing, with the gap being smaller here than other countries. Also, poll companies show breakdowns by age and gender and show very few young men voting right wing.

Less British and more Bluesky because this place is full of liberals who are progressive almost unanimously on some issues and can be all over the place on others. Especially since Bluesky apparently has an older base than Twitter and older people are more reactionary here.
