Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 25/09/2026One frustrating aspect of Bruce Campbell's career is that he got typecast into the "lovable snarky asshole" kind of role so often that he was rarely able to really show what he can do as an actor. And his guest appearance on Homicide: Life on the Street from 1996 is one of these rare examples. 000
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 14/09/2026AVATAR AANG: THE LAST AIRBENDER is very fun, exciting, and visually stunning, but I was also a little bit disappointed that the creators seemingly didn't take a lesson from the first season of Legend of Korra and yet again made the villains out of a group of non-benders in search for equality. 010
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 07/09/2026"Hey, should we use the endless library of our own movie & TV promotional materials to make ads for the HBO MAX app on mac?" "Nah, just slap some AI shit together. Doesn't even have to look like the real app's interface." 000
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 07/09/2026Why even use AI slop when the original looks so much better. 0151
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 04/09/2026I want to believe there is no fate but what we make, so don't brood and fight the future. #letterboxdfriday 1300
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 02/09/2026Saw T2 in theater over the weekend. Had a great time and it's still one of the best movies ever made, but the 4K upscale really does feel kind of odd. The way it removes all the grain and cranks up the contrast makes everything look smooth and unnatural. And doctor Silberman is now a wax figure. 000
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 24/08/2026I propose we hit Trump hard and we hit him fast, with a major, and I mean major, leaflet campaign... 000
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 18/08/2026The first episode of #LANTERNS was great. I love the tone, I love the mystery, I love that Hal Jordan is an asshole yet at the same time charismatic and likable (because Kyle Chandler always is), and I love how Aaron Pierre is a 100% spitting image of John Stewart from the Justice League cartoon. 000
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 14/08/2026Yes, it is true that throughout all 11 seasons of The X-Files, there really are only two reoccurring Black characters. But it is also true that one of them is the coolest motherfucker in the history of television, which kind of balances it out. 000
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 31/07/2026I'm at like episode 3 of season 2 of Sugar and even though I love the show, I'm also still not sure what to think about THAT THING. Conceptually I like it, but it also doesn't feel like it adds much to the story. I think it's actually the weakest aspect of it, which may also be the point…? 000
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 24/07/2026Two theatre highlights and two Bruce Campbell shlocks. #letterboxdfriday 090
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 20/07/2026Yeah. All the software used to detect AI is also AI. 010
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 20/07/2026And the Giants made their armor from the last remaining Cybertruck bits. 110
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 20/07/2026I stopped being interested in Nolan movies right around Dunkirk and Tenet but I got to say that I loved THE ODYSSEY, mostly because it wasn't trying to be so painstakingly realistic as lots of his previous movies were. In a way it was like a very expensive version of a weird A24 character study. 120
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 17/07/2026Two cinemagoing experiences. One significantly better than the other. #letterboxdfriday 2170
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 11/07/2026Here's my take on #EvilDeadBurn, or rather on the current state of the Evil Dead franchise in general. 🧵 100
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 02/07/2026One plot point from Gunn's DCU that I still don't like is the message from Superman's parents. He should have at least make in ambiguous whether the translation is correct or not, with the option of either developing it further in the future or just leaving it be. 100
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 26/06/2026Bruce Campbell didn't stay completely still while adding just tiny changes to his expression for a stop-motion effect on his hair turning white so you could tell me that AI is "inevitable." 051
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 24/06/2026I'd imagine that one of the scariest things for a musician has to be that when they die, people will start publishing offcuts and demos and alternative versions of their songs that were never supposed to see the light of day. 000
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 22/06/2026And also happy 68th birthday to the multiple Fangoria Chainsaw Awards Best Actor winner Bruce Campbell! 3230
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 12/06/2026Sophia Lillis always picks interesting projects and is always great in them. #letterboxdfriday 0160
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 05/06/2026If I had a nickel for every movie that has an amazing all-star soundtrack but that I also refuse to watch because it has Jared Leto in it, I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. 020
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 20/05/2026I will buy your The Evil Dead Blu-ray only after you actually release the original version, without the digital removals and color "corrections", and with Rob Tapert by that god damn bridge. It's the same story as with the old Star Wars trilogy. Just release the original versions, you cowards. 000
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 15/05/2026A documentary about From Dusk Till Dawn should have been called Full TIT Boogie, to be honest. #letterboxdfriday 060
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 08/05/2026I loved Indiana Jones and the Great Circle when I first played it, though there was one thing missing from making it a truly perfect game. Luckily, this glaring error has since been remedied through The Order of the Giants DLC. 100
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 21/04/2026READY OR NOT 2 only confirmed to me what I already knew: that Samara Weaving is the greatest Scream Queen in the history of horror cinema. 000
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 14/04/2026Left Substack a couple of years ago because of their weird stance on Nazi newsletters and other shady stuff and oh boy am I glad that I did. 020
Vaclav Urbanek @writingbubbles.com · 11/04/2026I'm kinda bummed out about how much overlooked PREDATORS generally are, when for me it's by far the best sequel in the whole franchise. This movie definitely deserves more love. 000
