Who edits with Scrivener? Better than editing a first draft on Word? And if so why? Am considering Scrivener but have always used Word beyond D1 for some reason. #writing #editing

🌈 📚 🛒 I’m looking for more LGBTQIA+ bookshops to add to my Starter Pack. That’s online shops and ones with doors and windows and walls and things. That’s shops focussed on LGBTQIA+ stories and/or LGBTQIA+ owned. Welcoming suggestions worldwide. Thanks for sharing! go.bsky.app/G321HCf

Well, the classic #SFF response would surely be - Interviewer: can you explain this gap in your resumé? Me: I was stuck in another timeline/universe? 😉

#Fantasy fans who else is enjoying Dune: Prophecy? I know I may be slated for this, but I actually prefer it to the films. I’ll always be biased towards any well-told story about a sisterhood of witches manipulating the patriarchy 😉

It is long past time for abortion to be decriminalised in England. US evangelicals are coming for women's rights through the Reform party and the govt needs to act now

If you’re a creator or work in the creative industries or otherwise have a heart, then please add your voice to this UK Gov consultation on AI and Copyright. I said ‘freelance’ for company and ‘unsure’ for super-granular legal stuff but made my voice heard. You can too. www.gov.uk/government/c...

This consultation seeks views on how the government can ensure the UK’s legal framework for AI and copyright supports the UK creative industries and AI sector together.

Out of interest #writingcommunity if someone like me who’s used to writing novels wanted to experiment with short stories for a change, what top tips on plotting, structure and character arcs would you give me? #writers

Repeating this repost by @ajwestauthor.bsky.social because this just happened to me but using a different author and again friendly but eventually slightly off sounding DMs. Seems to be happening more and more on here.

I’m clearing winding down for Christmas if I think finishing a workshop outline & sending it off means I can put my feet up & have a cup of Christmas Tea. Not sure I’m going to meet my end of Feb deadline for D1 at this rate! #writingcommunity #writers

‘Grandland’ - did no one at Vauxhall think to repeat the name several times and quickly? ‘Gran Land’ hardly sounds like a great choice of name for a car 🤔 #justsaying

It’s the small differences that count. This D1 is flowing a lot better (for now!). With my first novel, I wrote long-hand then transferred to Word! It was an arduous process. This time it’s flowing straight onto Scrivener #happywriter #writingcommunity

Warning. I was excited to be followed by Hanya Yanagihara on here yesterday. I was even more excited when she sent me a friendly DM but...I dunno, something about her message felt like AI. So I emailed her agent and today received confirmation: it's fake. I'm gutted but pleased I checked. Watch out!

Of course, now that I’m more active here and actually prefer it to other platforms, I’m now hugely distracted away from my draft 🫢 #amwriting (supposedly) #procrastinating

Loving the fact I’m finally allowing myself to just play with a messy first draft. Very low level plotting and just going wherever my focus takes me each day. Anyone else gone from plotter to pantser? #writingcommunity #writers #amwriting

Intro time 👋🏽 I’m Jackie. I write YA Fantasy but my current WIP is more speculative. I’m into practices that connect us back to nature and our innate inner wisdom, hence my love of fantasy and the magical. Looking forward to making new (and old) connections so feel free to say hi!
