That said.. I really hope I am wrong about this. But I don't trust a billionaire to not just attempt to capitalise on this #G1Climax35 win for #AEW alone. If we barely see Takeshita in #NJPW now I honestly think I will stop being a regular AEW watcher.

Takeshita looking very emotional at that win! I remember first seeing him on AEW Dark and being all in straight away. So much my partner got me a signed Takeshita pic years ago. To see him win #G1Climax35 is incredible.

What a match!! (I am sure there will be some twisty takes and folk will be determined not give that final its flowers) One of the best of the #G1Climax35!!

My partner (not on social media) would be over the moon if Evil won. But I suspect he might be a vanishingly rare example of an Evil and HoT fan. If it was an Evil win, hopefully the storyline to take him down a peg or two will really uplift his future competitors. 🤞🏻

Jeez-o! What has SHO been up to? Lean as! Y'know, not to be objectifying him or anything. Also, I have missed SHO calling everyone bumpkins.

I was so giddy to have seen them on excursion. Now chuffed to bits to see them return. I think they will be a good addition to War Dogs. #NJPW

For me, he needs more time. And that is fine. Highlights of this #G1Climax35 have been Finlay, Taichi, Zack, ELP, Yoshi-Hashi, Shingo. A whole abundance of talent. I can wait a while for the presentation, promo skills, and ring time, and storytelling to mature a bit for the younger folk.

010

Wrestle Bean @wrestlebean.bsky.social · 17/08/2025

I don't get the Yuya thing. He is okay, but I don't think he is better than Oiwa, Shota, Yota, Gabe, plus more. He is a fine wrestler. But the internet consensus doesn't scan for me. But even if it did, should've had #G1Climax win? A given that he'll main even the Dome? Seems pretty fast for NJPW.

110

Wrestle Bean @wrestlebean.bsky.social · 17/08/2025

But I almost want an Evil win for #G1Climax35. I don't want Takeshita to win only to go back to America and for Tony Khan trade off the win for Western audiences, and we only see Takeshita once or twice between now and Wrestle Kingdom. Keep the story in NJPW at least, even if some folk are unhappy.

Thanks. I mean, I know what the use of the word insinuates. But my ear hears it as an unfinished sentence as "mental" is usually used as an adjective. "Mental mindset" would sound correct. Just "mental" not enough. The use of language in this way takes me out of the moment every time I hear it.

000

Wrestle Bean @wrestlebean.bsky.social · 16/08/2025

I don't doubt NJPW for its long-form storytelling. Other companies could rarely do what they achieve. Especially compared to American wrestling. So I can sit in the discomfort & be patient. I might not personally like who is on top. But the pay off when someone comes in who I do like will be sweet!

Just saying this to ensure that we don't allow all English-speaking NJPW fans to be painted as a homogeneous Western Reddit bubble... Whilst I am not a lover of House of Torture, I have not had enough, will not be boycotting the product or slamming Gedo if the #G1Climax35 goes a particular way.

020

Wrestle Bean @wrestlebean.bsky.social · 16/08/2025

I have loved this #G1Climax35. I am a huge Takeshita fan. He has had some of my favourite matches this tournament. But I didn't want him to make it to the final. But I think that is mainly because I am still hurt by the Moxley IWGP belt run last year. Hope Takeshita sticks in NJPW longer.

020

Wrestle Bean @wrestlebean.bsky.social · 16/08/2025

Can anyone explain if it is an American thing that "mental" is being used as a noun? "Tsuji has the mental." The mental what? Mental strength? Mental fortitude? Mental capacity?

Wrestle Bean @wrestlebean.bsky.social · 10/08/2025

From what I am hearing of what is happening on New Japan Reddit, I would probably get mauled for enjoying this #G1Climax35. But more so for not buying the Yuya hype. He is a decent enough wrestler. Hate his promos. And I don't think, as some do, he should be shot to the moon yet. Too soon.

000

Wrestle Bean @wrestlebean.bsky.social · 10/08/2025

Thank fuck! The level of jeopardy I felt there. I felt nauseous. Finlay (and Taichi) have made Block A for me this #G1Climax35. Bloody over the moon he beat Yuya and has made it out of the blocks!

I am still thinking about how much I enjoyed their #G1Climax35 match.

Yeah, Big Roy is really awesome and settling into himself brilliantly.

They are really fantastic. Very excited to see where the next months and years takes them.

Wrestle Bean @wrestlebean.bsky.social · 03/08/2025

And the storytelling with the Young Lions has made the undercard matches unmissable! I am a mark for my big boy Murashima and aggy Nagai.

I stopped being online for a bit. But here to say, this #G1Climax35 has been absolutely phenomenal. Takeshita, ELP, Zack, Shingo, Finlay and especially Taichi just lighting up my life. Pretty happy with Callum and Boltin too who are looking so confident and strong this year! 💪🏻

If you have time a quick power nap 10-20 mins often perks me right up! But that usually works best for a mid-afternoon slump and not big post-wrestling exhaustion. Hope the coffee is strong! 💪🏻

Crowd are eating this up! And rightly so! #njDONTAKU

Partner trying to wind me up by pretending to be the (Western) internet: "bUt He iS jUsT aN oSpReAy cLoNe" Me losing my mind: BUT HE DOESN'T EVEN WRESTLE LIKE OSPREAY!! The cat asleep on my lap looking at me: Can you calm down please?

I fucking love Goto. But I don't care what people say, Callum Newman is great. I want Goto to retain, but I am chuffed he is getting this opportunity and I wholeheartedly feel he deserves it. #njDONTAKU

Naito isn't even out yet and I have shed a tear. The minute the crowd start chanting his name I will be gone. 😭 #njDONTAKU

If El Phantasmo and Konosuke Takeshita had a lifelong feud I would be forever happy. I could watch them wrestle everyday. #njDONTAKU

Last night I dreamed that I was telling Zack Sabre Jr that Mark Brisco was reading my copy of International Booker nominated Perfection by Vincenzo Latronico and was getting through it quicker than me whilst pausing to saw through a glass door.

Totally. A lot of people couldn't access tickets at 10am due to working and there is a risk that with this surge pricing it means a whole load of fans are priced out of being able to attend.

010

Wrestle Bean @wrestlebean.bsky.social · 28/04/2025

Totally agree! Seeing the prices now for the same block I am in are now nearly £100 more per ticket. Surge pricing is unconscionable.

Wrestle Bean @wrestlebean.bsky.social · 28/04/2025

Ticketmaster is always stressful. Feel like I need a lie down after the rush to purchase decent tickets.

I got my tickets for AEW Forbidden Door in August. It took a while to decide to go (very tempted with Glasgow), but it was Forbidden Door that got me into New Japan wrestling which is now my beloved promotion and might not get the opportunity again. Very excited now I have tickets and hotel booked!

Autistic or not, an individuals' ability to participate in these activities or be "productive" does not denote whether they are a valuable person. All lives have value. Ableist capitalism can get fucked.

Never been a fan of the Mox storyline. But it is feeling increasingly contrived and I don't think it is worth having other fantastic wrestlers lose to him for... Well, for what? All I can say is thank goodness for Toni Storm otherwise I think I might have stopped watching.

Just finished watching Dynasty and after a strong start to the year for AEW. For me the build for this PPV was not great. Some of the matches were really great, but ended trying to remind myself why I persevere with AEW. Might be judging unfairly against my beloved NJPW and awesome Sakura Genesis.

I am about to go out on strike next week in face of opportunistic redundancies being threatened by my employer. Lots of organising happened this week and have some union tasks I need to attend to later. But for now... FANTASTICA MANIA!!! 🎉

000

Wrestle Bean @wrestlebean.bsky.social · 23/02/2025

Definitely not going crazy, only two of the scheduled dates are being broadcast on NJPW World. I am looking forward to them!

010

Wrestle Bean @wrestlebean.bsky.social · 23/02/2025

Thankfully I get to watch New Japan live with my breakfast. 😂 It is a shame that more people don't make the effort to watch NJPW asynchronously. It is my favourite wrestling promotion by quite a large margin. Folks are missing out!

010

Wrestle Bean @wrestlebean.bsky.social · 23/02/2025

I guess that makes sense. It is a shame though. As someone in the UK I have never watched a PPV live. I just catch up the next day. But I appreciate that wouldn't be great for American fans who are accustomed to live shows.

Wrestle Bean @wrestlebean.bsky.social · 23/02/2025

Gotta say the last month of AEW has been awesome. Everything in the run up to Grand Slam in Australia was brilliant and the show was great! I hope they do it again and maybe even make it a PPV event Australia. The crowd were awesome and as a viewer it was so fun to see people enjoying it so much.

This week has been tough! As an employee and trade unionist, this week has required serious graft and fight. But it is Friday night and I am going to get into my PJs, eat pizza and watch wrestling. Looking forward to seeing fights and not being in them! 😅

010

Wrestle Bean @wrestlebean.bsky.social · 13/01/2025

Agree. Because if people don't feel like they can say what they think then how does anyone know what works and what doesn't? I am a week behind with AEW and it feels bad to say, but I don't feel compelled to catch up soon.

I really enjoyed #njbitv. The Sumie Sakai retirement match was utterly wonderful. I had so much fun and it seemed like they all did too. It made my heart feel full.
