For the past few weeks I've been tinkering on a new thing. DEGADO SECTOR is a cold war space setting inspired by British sci-fi and spy fiction of the 1970s. Interstellar trade, colonial decline, and revolutionary intrigue in a nuclear-powered space age.

Looking through these documents I spotted their "Beginners Observation Guide" which has some wonderful illustrations on how to follow a suspect.

I also asked players to choose from a handful of Glasgow based feeding grounds, each with a rating and custom rolls depending on your approach. This was my favourite bit. A simple roll, a little vignette, and the chance of chaos.

For my first ever game I ran, Vampire the Requiem, I was worried about the complexity for people brand new to RPGs. So I wrote up bloodlines and disciplines as cards for players to choose from and reference in play. It seemed to work!

Can sincerely un-recommended MixamUK for your printing needs. First run was full of cropping errors outside the bleed and the reprints are all damaged along the spine. At least the customer service is pleasant but we'll see if the refund is forthcoming.

Events are the building blocks of narrative (literally, narrative is pretty much defined by events). What this means is you have a series of objects (characters, things, details) and some actions then together they create an outcome that leads to some kind of change (or continuance) among those things.

Events bring together multiple characters, multiple features, they allow for dynamism and collaboration. Actions can quite limiting to resolve, they tend to include one character doing one thing to one other thing at a time. Once you add in anything like initiative action resolution has a weird impact on the nature of time in a world in which time becomes segmented and people exist in little pocket dimensions that act independently and then re-join together. Events are how we naturally divide time in narrative.

Laird of Veilmarnock. Relishes in the control this grants him over so many spirits. Thralls lift him from bed in the morning, dress and bathe him, bring his tea and papers, in fact any conceivable mundane task that could be delegated and Golverston has done so.
There is only one thing Golverston does himself - the Morning Liturgies. He trained as a church organist and believes in the power of ritual song to induce compliance. So every dawn he climbs atop a giant amalgam of spirits (a gift from Dryblane of Ortch) and plays the organ on its back.
His belief is well founded: all who hear his song have a single overriding thought: 'nothing can ever change'.

13.10 The Bastard Lair - In a concealed cave overlooking the loch, cowering amongst scraps of clothes, a warped bestial creature is kept in chains. Between patches of mottled wiry hair is white flesh, pocked and scarred, and a tattoo on its chest marks it as a mortal warrior trapped in monstrous transformation. Locals call it the Hills Bastard.
Ros, a tanner from Seilinish, stole the harness that would temper its transformations. She wishes to skin the creature to make a mighty suit of armour.
If let loose the Bastard is a flurry of indiscriminate rending claws. It can even wield weapons, though it has a habit of destroying them in the process.
