Made an error, last pic was high (activate) float switch. Here's the lower (turn-off) and you can see there's a small pebble of sediment stuck in the collar preventing ring from traveling. Fix will be a screen cage around both switches to keep debris out. Was lucky to be able to see that rock.

This nonsense again. The pressure switch idea didn't work. Ultrasonic or time-of-flight sensors don't work on turbulent surfaces or inside pipe. And now AC pump just finished and I should be seeing a blue LED. The lower float switch is misbehaving, time to put a camera in the hole.

9 y/o me lived across swamp to the West of McPhillips. The game was in the front entrance airlock (next to photo booth). It was glass everywhere, intense sunsets (thx Mountt St. Helens) and howling cold, spent many, many hours on that vector classic. Thx for a good memory.

And the core of what information I need in order to trigger and stop my backup pump is water height (relative to my basement floor). Pressure can work too, I pick two values, done. I would love to get a wad of data from pit just to know the H2O of things going on down there. Am I obsessing?

Amount of horizontal water at 3" deep is maybe 24" diameter but higher up where pit widens and sub-slab plumbing drain rocks come into play, that applies nonlinear pressure at bottom. This sensor type works best in a pipe or consistent-sized container.

About to apply power to my new submersible pressure transducer, couldn't find any examples online with this current to voltage board so fingers crossed I don't magic smoke $45 worth of parts. I'm not 100% sure this will be the trick, as perforated sump pit won't give a meaningful linear reading.
