Flagrantly stolen by The Verve.

The AI would also have the mosquito as an example of how to kill humans and would probably go the bio weapon route. Total annihilation of humans with zero impact on machines.

You’re making my point though. Imagine building up to doing a Sunday set closing a stage and barely anyone shows up. This was QOTSA headlining Sunday night on The Other Stage:

No one ever talks about what it did for the rest of the festival. It was awful - we were up at The Park and it was so dead we felt we had to wonder down for a look. The QOTSA crowd on The Other Stage barely reached the sound booth. I don’t think it was in the spirit of the festival.

It really is! The cruelty of the reveal to him is breathtaking. I kept wondering if we’d do the same in the UK, and worrying that now we probably would.

Incredible! Just watched it on your recommendation - thank you!

People keep slagging Glastonbury off, and you said you can’t bring things with you despite it being probably the most lenient festival there is. I saw people last week with literal trollies of cider behind them. You could happily tow in a weeks worth of food if it took your fancy.

7th Glastonbury this year, thanks for asking.

“Things”. Ok.

Where’d you get the idea you can’t bring things with you? It’s not true.

The ghilli suits were probably for Snapped Ankles 😊

I’m late watching this season but I totally agree! It reminds me of Clint Mansell’s Requiem For A Dream soundtrack (in the way it stirs me). I’ve rewatched the final montage 3 times in a row now!

There’s a really good podcast about banksy that covers the Seagull one extensively.

I replaced mine this year with a ‘new’ 2009 C1 with 22k on the clock for 3k, so this one should last me another couple of decades.

My 1l Seat Arosa lasted 21 years and 210k miles. I actually welled up when she was loaded onto the truck for the last time.

Sports Team, Bristol Rough Trade May 2025. The new album is fantastic! We have accidentally bought far too many copies! Such a lovely bunch of people too. They were lovely to everyone despite a crazy number of gigs in a row.

This is a tricky one - the underlying internet is the same. People have CHOSEN to use that handful of companies. Stuff like websites, Usenet and IRC are still there - the problem is that the handful of companies made stuff that’s easier to use.

It’s fake. Watterson would NEVER do this to his characters. The real final strip of Calvin and Hobbes is beautiful.

Have a browse of the ONS page on death in the UK. Around 30% of victims and suspects in killings were under the influence of drugs or alcohol. 56% of homicides involved drugs in some way (2024). As an aside, how many people are going out to buy a new knife for this type of crime?

110 1

Woz @woz.rocks · 21/05/2025

The statistics show a reduction without implementing this rule. How is that not relevant?

110 1

Woz @woz.rocks · 21/05/2025

So if implemented, this rule would inconvenience a huge number of people and save practically none, relatively. Besides which, the few people wanting a stabby knife would simply go to a DIY shop and buy a Stanley knife or similar.

030 3

Woz @woz.rocks · 21/05/2025

I really feel like this is a dead cat issue that would make some people’s work harder and will remove useful tools from innocent people.

110 1

Woz @woz.rocks · 21/05/2025

Non pointy knives have been used alongside pointy ones, sure. Show me a cook that doesn’t have a pointy knife. According to the ONS, there were 535 homicides in 2024, 41% of which involved knives. A 45% REDUCTION on the previous year. In comparison, there were over 10000 alcohol related deaths.

320 3

Woz @woz.rocks · 21/05/2025

How many car deaths?

120 2

Woz @woz.rocks · 21/05/2025

No it’s not. Preparing fish has been going on since we could chip stone…perhaps address the reasons for the stabbings rather than completely hampering basic tools.

I also use it, but it’s no where near as good as google in its heyday.

I love it - it’s part of The Sprawl Trilogy and shouldn’t be read first. First one is Neuromancer. Gibson tends to do trilogies that are thematically linked, rather than following individual characters, although some characters re-occur. He’s one of my favorite authors.

I really doubt it! Part of my vision issue is caused by astigmatism, which may be related to my Ehlers-Danlos syndrome causing the eyeball to be elongated. I really can’t see them fixing ALL the possible causes for vision defects in a hurry.

The range of kit WiiM offer is a bit confusing. The WiiM amp pro will drive old fashioned passive speakers and stream all the music services to them. Doesn’t do surround for telly though.

000 0

Woz @woz.rocks · 17/05/2025

Yeah I’m soo tempted. I’m probably going to try the WiiM Amp Pro as I have some nice B&W speakers. The issue I have is that there’s no true 5.1 option for WiiM yet, so I’ll keep the Sonos running for that.

110 1

Woz @woz.rocks · 17/05/2025

I now only use mine for surround via optical on the telly. I’ve switched to Echo Input feeding a Class D amp but I’m looking at WiiM kit with interest. The echo input setup doesn’t sound as good as Sonos, but it works when I want it to.

Fair enough. I’m broadly in favour of choice but I just don’t trust scope creep not to happen.

You should watch Liz Carr’s documentary on IPlayer. It’s very good and covers the concerns of people with disabilities. It convinced me that the act is a bad idea.

110 1

Woz @woz.rocks · 14/05/2025

Dunno - I worked at Dell when I left school and at some point you run out of spares for older kit. I used to have the job of finding working parts from the returns. I think 10 years is a pretty impressive lifespan for a laptop. You can probably still get spares from eBay but good luck fitting them!
