Opposing violence against trans women is unacceptable to the BBC, which, like every part of British media in 2026, believes being able to do violence against trans women is a human right.

My wife insists that she enjoys when I go on about sports because she likes that she's now fairly knowledgeable about stuff she otherwise wouldn't have looked into at all. I think she's maybe gaslighting me, but I'll take the excuse anyway.

Also, I completely understand why people wouldn't want to vote for Macron based on his stance on Israel/Palestine. I don't think that is what makes his program centre-right/Thatcherite.

I completely understand why people would not want to vote for them based on what Melenchon has said about Ukraine/Russia but that is not the entire LFI program. Their policies are to reverse macron's tax cuts for the rich and be more redistributive. That's not enough to describe as "commie".

Anti EU doesn't mean putinist. I am aware that Melenchon has some pretty terrible opinions about Ukraine/Russia and a lot of other foreign policy matters tbh. That's actually one of the reasons I compare the LFI program to Mitterrand.

One of the worst state pensions in western Europe, 2 million pensioners in poverty and increasing numbers of pensioners still paying rising rents… triple lock being removed is not a left wing position just because you don’t like rich boomers

We could also just make the rich people give up a tiny bit of their money. *Cue a liberal appearing to patronise me*

Is it possible to find takes on French politics in the English language that aren't from insanely privileged people. Obviously the demographics will skew that way but every opinion is just "fuck every non-rich person in France because Melenchon has some crank foreign policy opinions"

Worthless Original @worthlessoriginal.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Macron has been spending the past decade courting and emboldening the far right and breaking down the re-distributive capacity of the french state on a thatcherite model.

Well I'm not so 👍 Just because I don't share the political opinions of someone who supports Macron, doesn't mean I'm American.

One is literally fully funded by Putin the other has said some really dumb shit in the past and is backed by a party that is fully against Putin. Horseshoe theory nonsense to say they're the same.

As a Briton, here is my opinion: coffee is the morning life force, black tea with a bit of milk is for recovery after doing something really tiring. I think we probably drink more coffee now and a country.

I used to get a small bottle of supermalt on the way to chef job at a restaurant. After a month of doing this a few times a week, my boss approached me to ask if I really thought it was appropriate to drink beer before starting work.

Barnes tbh. Dedic was great in some games and woeful in others. Hall or willock just behind, but Hall has given away 2 pens and willock hasn't quite been as consistent as Barnes. Mad really, because I'm a confirmed Barnes hater. He's just been proving me wrong so far this season.

I do think we should regulate this tech just everything I just really don't get how we are being so credulous about claims to it's future potential. It's been basically doing the same thing for years now and anything that sounds crazy that's happening is explainable and not actually crazy.

I don't see how it remotely comes close to ending the vast majority of jobs that involve the moving around of physical things (e.g. cooking, cleaning, building etc) even if it wasn't also the case that the future less-limited versions of the tech rely on impossible levels of energy output.

It absolutely won't. It's a fairly useful tool for some stuff that will have some big impact on the world, but it's not a cataclysmic event like it's talked about. That's all hype.

I'm ignorant of how this sort of thing works, but don't batteries also demand higher volumes of destructive mining to compared to what would be needed to construct a regular electric train?

Would like to see Toure get a start. He looked at bit not used to the system/partnerships against west brom, but he's only going to improve at that through playing.

I like JJ a lot, but my one big issue with him is that he holds onto the ball too long very often. It's why I'd much rather see him at 10. Much lower risk of him losing the ball on the dribble in a dangerous position.
