🎉HOT OFF THE PRESS! In our latest study, we used #TurboID proximity proteomics to capture learning-associated changes in the #presynaptic #proteome. We found widespread synaptic remodelling during learning and IDed Cathepsin B as a key regulator. Huge thanks to the team for making magic happen. 😊

Grant submissions during winter these past years have been like 2023: Bub has RSV 2024: I have Covid (from Bub) 2025: RSV again Sometimes I think maybe it's better to have non-winter deadlines... but then in summer it will probably be gastro 😅 #AcademicMumProblems

Lachie has been fundraising for #FightMND for over half of his life. This week he visited #HMRB @flindersuniversity.bsky.social and inspired us all to keep researching early detection and improved treatment. That’s for visiting Lachie - you’re amazing! @wormychew.bsky.social

Amazed (and relieved) that our #DP25 "What makes a memory?" is funded! Excited to get stuck into fun #neuroscience to dissect the minimal molecular requirements for different types of #memory using our favourite #worm model @flindersuniversity.bsky.social.
Text summarising the project. Briefly: This proposal aims to dissect the minimal chemical requirements for learning and memory formation in the compact, experimentally-accessible nematode brain. These findings are essential to understand more complex forms of learning and memory formation in bigger brains.

Introducing Team Worm @flindersuniversity.bsky.social! We love #Worm #brains and we cannot lie - we are interested in what makes the brain tick to form stable #memories during healthy #ageing. 🧠 Connect with us for student/trainee opportunities!
An image of people standing in a lab space wearing blue surgical gowns and smiling. there are 8 people looking happy and also all wearing gloves - very good PPE!
