one man's one star is another man's five stars I guess
a one star review for Scary Movie 2026 aka Scary Movie 6 reads: There’s a gag where the Gail Weathers character gets injected with the substance and then the Marlon Wayans’ character from White Chicks comes out of her back holding the Epstein files. That’s the whole joke.

four years ago I listened to the La Dispute album Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair for the first time (GOAT album) and then while babysitting the service desk at work I just sat there and sketched the album art on sticky notes, then did...whatever this is lol
a lot going on here. First of all, on a series of sticky notes I've drawn the album art for the La Dispute album Somewhere at the Bottom of etc., which includes a bird (a raven, maybe?) and a little wooden boat. THEN I scanned or took a picture of the sticky notes, put them in photoshop or pixlr, and put under them a bunch of sketchy craziness I did in microsoft paint.

on-theme bit from their latest email where they have to clarify what repertory means
In our Underground theater this week we have THREE great repertory (aka not new release) films including one of the most influential films of all time, THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER.

OH MY GOD lol. they paused Amelie to give everyone Panera pastries...
I went to a showing of Amelie at the Lawrenceville location a few years ago that promised authentic French pastries and espresso. When we got there the staff told us the bakery canceled their order but they found a different bakery that was going to deliver. So they stopped the movie about an hour in and we all went into the lobby for Panera croissants and drip coffee. After reading all these comments I’m pretty sure that they never placed the original order and had to scramble at 9am on a Sunday to feed us something.

good Guys: A Podcast About Guys level commentary in this (mostly reasonable) thread. "...even if they won't respond to my emails" is so good
Its the worst place to see the best movies. Small screen, awful sound & acoustics. Full house? Forget trying to even enjoy the movie to any degree over the crowd noise. I guess its a good place to buy a beer / popcorn and sit in the dark?

I'd honestly rather go to The Oaks to see a digital print of a random "classic" once every other month. At least their PA is tuned and the picture is clear/functional...idk...thank god for the Manor, even if they wont respond to my emails lol

helped my sister find an old high school yearbook and boy what an intro. "High acedemic achievements" is killing me
a yearbook editors not says:

What is the definition of class?
The definition of class can be defined by any old dictionary, but
what defines our class from all the others? What defines our intellectual
appeal, or our wild and crazy style? What makes us, Lorain Admiral
King, different from the others? We are a school of high acedemic
achievements, great athleticism and sportmanship, we are full of school
spirit and high class. Those are just some of the things our school
is and should be perceived as. It is very sad that all do not perceive LAK
as the great school that it is. When many think of Admiral King they
associate us with the rumors of more of the bad than the good. That is
not right, the good out weighs the bad by far. Only we, as a student
body and staff can change those rumors. This year book proves the
colors of gold and blue to be true, and that Lorain Admiral King is a
fine school from every aspect possible. Forget the past and look
towards the future. LAK is unique, classy, fun, and bright, and any of
those that think otherwise may have judged the book by it's cover.
Here is a new cover for you to look at and you will see the
many things that make Lorain Admiral King
the best.

gotta shout out the source for the majority of my info in this ep, Robert A. Saunders' "The Many Faces of Sacha Baron Cohen." Really fun read. Saunders is a poli-sci guy way into Kazakhstan so that's fun but then he also provides a lot of good context on SBC's position in TV satire of the time

someone on Threads (?) asks "Who tf asked for a Clayface movie??" and James Gunn responds directly with this tome:

"Who tf asked for Back to the Future? Casablanca? There's Something About Mary? Pan's Labyrinth? Fury Road? Weapons? The Matrix? Although it may seem like it, Hollywood isn't a place where the only way to make a movie is the public voting on what IP they want to see that they've seen countless times before."

no wrong way to discover The Decemberists
YouTube comment reads: Here in 2025. Probably not gamer music, but i found this song in a modification for the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R Anomaly. Some guy added about 700 songs to the game, most of it Russian songs, bunch of German and Swedish songs too, but among them are some english songs and i found this gem. Had to add it to my driving playlist on youtube.

they aired this episode in December and never aired the three after, can't imagine why audiences didn't respond to this
a Christmas episode of Woops called Say it Ain't So Santa has the following description: Christmas is approaching, but it is not the same, as the nuclear holocaust has ruined much of the world's evergreen tree population. While cleaning out the chimney, the group finds Santa Claus (Stuart Pankin) has visited the group, but appears depressed. Santa later reveals to the group that he is suffering survivor's guilt, as his workshop at the North Pole had a fallout shelter, but the door slammed shut and Mrs. Claus and all the elves were unable to get inside.
