En route to Klaipeda no flying. 6 countries, 11 trains, 1 bus & 1 ferry. Come join us on Monday for the #ICESASC25 session on marine biodiversity and ecosystem services. How can we co-exist successfully with nature?

Mollusc of the year 2025 - the Dorado octopus Muuscoptopus, which likes to hang out near deep-sea hydrothermal vents. What a beauty! Senckenberg will now sequence its entire genome moty.senckenberg.science/en/

First international conference on the cultural significance of fish. This is very cool, learn how consistently important fish have been to us through history. June 2025, Ely, England. ifm.org.uk/events/1st-i...

Validated! Finally got my first 'paper of the week' at my organisation, after 16.5 years. Not sure what that says about me as a scientist, but for sure it was a beast to do. See if you think it's worthy of celebration onlinelibrary-wiley-com.uea.idm.oclc.org/doi/epdf/10....

About 5 years in the making: (there really is) limited evidence on the impacts of #windfarms on #fisheries species. Wind is a solution to the climate crisis, but we also need food security. These are tough, complex choices and we need evidence to support them. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/toc/14672979...
Image shows the amount of evidence available on windfarm impacts on fisheries for different types of species. The amount of evidence is represented by lines, with thicker lines meaning more evidence. Most of the lines are thin, signalling little available evidence; the most evidence was found for demersal and reef-associated roundfish.
