Someone in my writing class offered to create an Instagram group chat to chat more easily about assignments, etc. This is one of the responses he received. Name of the class and website have been removed.

Instagram doesn't lend itself to discussion--it was designed as, and primarily, as well as optimally, functions as an image-sharing website. To piggy back off what Linda said, the canvas discussion tab suffices for our communication needs. Even if you had created a discord server--yes, the tired and, quite frankly, clichéd "university course discord server"--, the most optimal medium for text oriented discussion and real time communication, we are not looking for, nor do we need to find, the optimific platform for conversing about CRWR200 outside of Canvas. We tend to make satisficing (A clever portmanteau of satisfying and sufficing, which should elucidate the meaning of this new-fangled term quite well to our dear readers) decisions, rather than optimal decisions, because they are sufficient (one may recall the principles of necessity and sufficiency) (alt text continues in next post)
