Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, the two victims of the shooting outside a Jewish museum in Washington DC. Two Israeli Embassy employees. Two people targeted for being Jewish. Two innocent victims of hatred. This is a horrific act. May their memories be a blessing.

Yom HaShoah, Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day, begins this evening with a minute-long siren, when the whole of Israel comes to a halt and the nation pauses to remember the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust.

59 hostages are still in Gaza, after 1.5 years in hell. Just as Moses demanded that Pharaoh let his people go from slavery, so we say to Hamas: Let our people go. #BringThemHomeNow

One and a half years since the horror of October 7. One and a half years that the hostages are in Gaza, starving, abused, alone. One and a half years later, this nightmare continues. #BringThemHomeNow

While celebrating the joys of Purim and its history, let us draw strength to help us confront the threats we face today. While remembering the liberation of Persian Jews from oppression, let us remember the many times the Jewish people overcame adversity and persevered. Chag Purim Sameach from WJC!

Former hostage Omer Wenkert gave a harrowing interview to Israeli media, detailing his kidnapping from the Nova festival, the last time he saw his friend Kim Damti, who was killed that day, and the days in Hamas captivity, including nearly 200 days in total isolation and how he was beaten regularly.

For nearly 500 days, Eli Sharabi was a hostage in Gaza, where he was tortured, starved, and abused. Sharabi was freed in February and came home to Israel to the horrific news that his wife and two teenage daughters were murdered during the October 7 attack. Everyone must watch his testimony.

Since Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas were returned to Israel, landmarks in Germany, Paris, Argentina, and beyond have been illuminated in orange as the world mourns their tragic loss. There are no words to describe the heartbreak of the Jewish people. We must #BringThemHomeNow. Every. Single. One.

“Shiri, I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you all.” All of Israel is united today for a purpose we did not want: To bid farewell to the beautiful Bibas family, to Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir, a mother and two children, as they were brought to their final resting place. It never should have happened this way.

Remembering is a responsibility. Together with close partners, we organised a visit of +50 Ambassadors &diplomats to Maison d’Izieu to learn more about the Holocaust. The Shoah shaped the UN’s founding, reminding us of our duty to recognize every person’s full humanity. @worldjewishcong.bsky.social

Human lives are hanging in the balance. 76 hostages need to come home to Israel - to their families, or for proper burials so that their families can lay them to rest. For Shabbat, we say #BringThemHomeNow

Hostage Alon Ohel turns 24 today in Gaza. His mother says they received the first sign of life only this past Sunday, as Alon was being held hostage with Eli Sharabi and Or Levi, who were freed on Saturday. Alon is wounded, receives almost no food, and is being kept in tunnels, and in chains.
