Not that I ever actually handed that particular address out, because it was hidden behind a load of forwarding which I recently unplugged by moving the addresses I actually use to a different, better, cheaper and more adaptable hosting solution. But still, end of an era.

When I picture a sex workers' attire, it tends to be much more lingerie-forward than athletic, with an emphasis on filmy lace and satin, fishnet, high heels/boots, maybe some form of bustier or corset, and a bunch of complicated stuff for holding stockings up, none of it conducive to a good workout.

This is a really good episode from the Corridor Crew about how the hardware and software stack employed behind the scenes in making a piece of digital art is INFINITELY less important than the artistic intent and choices that go into making it and their final affect on the audience

Currently in the middle of a hilarious argument between my ISP and the company which provides internet connectivity infrastructure about whether or not there's a copper cable running between my home and the nearest cabinet that in turn provides fibre-based backbone connectivity. Spoiler: there is.

People not just moving the entirety of their human interactions online but also taking their online interactions as the baseline of their humanity without that insulating layer of obfuscated identity and refusal to treat their online world as on par with the offline is… why we are where we are

Now, this isn't to be all shaking fist at clouds because bitching about the erosion of some putative utopian OG Internet is almost as old as the WWW itself, but I can't help feeling that those rules I was given were, and are, still useful in themselves, more so in an era of fractured sociality

I've done my best to adhere to these commandments over the years, but you might have noticed that the evolution of social networks has largely been driven by expecting people to: 1: Surrender their anonymity (or pseudonymity) 2: Proceed to argue with one another to progressively ruinous effect

What we had instead was Usenet, which was effectively the very first online social network. I well remember two pieces of advice I was given when first venturing into that world: 1: Never use your full real name online 2: Never argue with people online

One way or another, and with a few gaps here and there, I've been on the Internet for 35 years, and yes, that's actually longer than the World Wide Web as we know it has been publicly available, and no, I'm not about to point you towards anything I put online that far back in prehistory.

Watching CYBORG 2087 and the unifying thing about these United Pictures Corporation flicks seems to be that they feel suspiciously like spec scripts for TV pilots that never found a home and then got stretched to feature length and indifferently shot on various ranches, backlots and soundstages

Good job I checked the dates on this exhibition before wandering down to the Science Museum this weekend: doesn't actually open for two weeks. Mind you, there's every chance of the maladministration eradicating all science in the USA in the meantime…

For example 1970's DARKER THAN AMBER, a potential franchise starter adapting novelist John D. MacDonald's Travis McGee series. Terrible acting and dialogue, cheapo design and photography, Jane frickin' Russell in a part so bit she gets bottom billing, but a fight Steven Soderbergh calls jaw-dropping

Time to once again fire up Tubi and seek out another obscurity ripped from VHS that turns out to have a fascinating production history, some big star totally slumming it, production values that barely verge on adequate and a running time that struggles to limp to 82 minutes

Looking at all these reviews of THE SOCIAL RECKONING which boil down to "Sorkin's self-indulgence almost overwhelms his mediocre directing" and I'm like, clearly you tapped out of MOLLY'S GAME before the distressingly awful Daddy Issues Outta Nowhere scene with Kevin Costner
