What does it say about the 2026 #Yankees that the weak by comparison 2026 Indians could beat the Rays (and Rasmussen for at least part of the game) in the postseason but they couldn’t? Nothing great! I hope Cashman is embarrassed.

In Opinion “Democrats are right to feel bullish about their odds in a slew of this year’s congressional races,” Ben Wikler writes in a guest essay. “But to avoid another Jan. 6 scenario, they should devote just as much attention to — and sufficient resources toward — electing Democratic governors.”

ICE shot a man in New York City; his lawyers can’t find him

The agency claims Oscar Belgal "weaponized his vehicle” against agents in the Bronx, prompting them to fire seven shots at his car.

My statement on the ICE shooting in Marble Hill ⬇️

"Today in Marble Hill, ICE agents fired multiple shots at a man in his vehicle while his 5-year-old child was in the back seat.
ICE's already unwelcome presence in our city has been growing more escalatory and dangerous by the day. Today's shooting is a grave development that requires a swift and immediate response to protect the safety of all New Yorkers.
First, we must have a full and independent investigation of this incident.
"There must also be a full and immediate release of all body camera footage of the incident.
In addition, the Target Corporation must stop offering their Bronx properties as private staging sites for ICE, in compliance with requests from New York officials. Target opening up large, active retail parking lots for paramilitary activity is unacceptable and places the entire community at risk.
ICE is a rogue, lawless paramilitary and surveillance agency.
It does not belong in New York City and it should not exist in the United States of America. Abolish ICE.”

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.

This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.

Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.

Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.

Abolish ICE.

Went down in flames on Wordle today and probably wouldn't have gotten the solution in 100 years. I wonder what the solve rate is on today's puzzle. Low, I would think.

This has probably flown under the radar of most #Yankees fans, but I really hope the team brings back David Bednar, who's a free agent this winter. He's been very solid in the closer's role.

Per @joelsherman.bsky.social, the #Yankees are now 0-8 in the playoffs under Boone against teams with a better regular-season record than theirs.

I'm not surprised that the #Yankees went out relatively early in the playoffs given the lack of offense they showed for all but 2 weeks of Judge's 3-month absence and the inconsistent defense they showed all year. (Monday's abomination surprised me, though.) Great pitching can do only so much.

BTW, I think @yesnetwork.bsky.social really dropped the ball by not having Willie Randolph, with decades of playoff experience, as a studio analyst in the playoffs. Nothing against Todd Frazier, but Willie should have been a no-brainer addition to the studio crew.

You know what an entertaining World Series would be? Rays-Brewers. That would be fun-to-watch, hard, clean baseball for at least 9 innings every night.

No; he is owed "only" $15M next year, and if there's a lockout, a good portion of that might not even be paid. Probably stuck with him through 2027.

I think that's a little harsh, but I get the sentiment. He's a tremendous athlete who just too often lacks focus, probably owing to immaturity. Maybe he will put it together someplace else. I don't think he's a bad person; he just doesn't play consistently hard enough for a contending team.
