The Tutor2u Grade Booster tour kicks off tomorrow, so today I have a long train journey up to Newcastle and 3 different Premier Inns to sleep in this week. Fingers crossed that the new knee is not too unhappy about it all.

Happy international women’s day - this one makes me proud everyday. She is a mini-me - although slightly inaccurate as she’s now 4 inches taller than me, and way more clever! But that inherited sass comes back to bite me on the arse at times.

Super F2F physio session today - bending the new knee to 100 degrees now, able fo straight leg lift, tried walking normally on the stairs and could. But apparently I have a very long stride and walk very quickly for someone who has just had a new knee 😂 - but ahead of all recovery milestones 🙌🙌

I got a new knee on Friday! All went well (although the level of pain on Friday pm/Saturday was horrific). Pain is much more manageable now and I am recovering at home - but this will keep me out of action for a bit. Incredible care from the Spire hospital at Macclesfield.

Dame Jane Goodall - A Life Well Spent!

Last week Jane Goodall died at the age of 91 - hers was a name that I hadn't thought about much recently, but as a teenager I was fascinated by her conservation work, and her work was one of the thing...

At the fracture clinic again - hoping to be told that driving is back on (after 5 weeks in the walking boot) and that I can wear the boot a bit less 🤞

At dad’s today starting the sad process of clearing out his house. Found mum’s old wedding dress and a fab frock from the 1970s, a crochet blanket she made before I was born and some cracking photos, including mum’s mum and dad’s dad…

All positive at the fracture clinic. 2 more weeks of boot on pretty much all the time and then can start wearing it a bit less. No driving for 4 weeks. But shouldn’t affect my knee replacement at the end of Oct.

Off to the fracture clinic today - hopefully will know how many more weeks I am in the snazzy boot and when I can drive again 🤞🤞

After 4 days of being housebound with a stress fracture in my ankle and a snazzy walking boot to wear at all times, I took a break from elevating and icing it to go for ice cream at Pomeroy Farm - luckily it was a few metres from the car park to the picnic tables - I didn’t drive obviously!

A bit of Bargello when I am laid up!

Vicki W @woollyvix.bsky.social · 13/08/2025

So as well as horrible knee pain, I also have a stress fracture in my ankle so will be wearing this item of high fashion for the next 6 weeks and will not be able to drive. Currently a mixture of angry and upset. Holiday plans to London and and Norfolk Coast won’t be happening, nor will swimming.

Tears of relief here - surgeon has said yes and that they will be in contact in the next couple of weeks to offer me a date for my left knee replacement, and then I can have the other one done shortly after. A very good outcome.

Little bit of an art project for the courtyard - good work @ahageog.bsky.social! That garden store is going and will be replaced by a corner bench and some sort of wooden canopy.

Have been given some codeine to try as my OA pain is currently unmanageable, and my walking is VERY limited. Should get some crutches tomorrow to help me for the next couple of weeks. A while ago I bought a stick - I used it for the first time today. It was upsetting, but it did make a difference.

Off to London for a few days with M in a couple of weeks. So far I have booked the Moco museum and Frameless (that handily are pretty much next door to each other and about 2 mins walk from Marble Arch tune). Can wait - loved the Moco in Amsterdam last summer, and Frameless looks incredible!

Just said goodbye to M who is flying to Cologne with her dad for 5 days. I love that she gets lovely experiences with him but I miss her so much when she is not here.

Maya and I spent some time with the beautiful Reggie and Herb yesterday - she booked it for my birthday. It’s been a hard week for a number of reasons but these beauties made me feel a lot better.

Did about half of the Hop to it trail in Ipswich today before pain levels went through the roof and I had to give in. Some really beautiful artwork on display! These were my favourites…
