Seeing this live DVD with their most recent vocalist Erik Grönwall was stunning. He was such a great fit for the band and I found myself sitting there in awe, so happy to see them play on screen. Scotti Hill and Dave "The Snake" Sabo duelling guitar solos, playing like they were 30 years younger!

Tears streaming down my face watching Skid Row Live in London DVD filmed on 20 Oct 2022 today! A band I have followed since the mid 90s and beyond, got to see them live in 2018 with the singer ZP Theart. I was so stoked to see them play, lead singer was competent but seemed lacking in charisma.

I haven't done much research but I was aware the lead singer was the victim of abuse when he was younger, hence some of songs on this album and difficult to listen to. The sound of the bass and mixing of the drums are pretty unique. Although I would say maybe the Deftones sound a little similar.

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay Korn - Korn (1994) Bagpipes? In a metal tune? Probably one of the first songs I heard on a metal radio station. Along with a few tunes on film soundtracks. I don't know if this album differs a lot from their others, but it's clearly dealing with painful past.

Did some physio today, got back after a few hours. Was nursing a headache as I woke up, it's getting steadily worse as the day goes on. I am not even going to attempt to stream today because I think concentrating on a screen is just going to make things worse! Fingers crossed tomorrow is better.

I have to go to a physio appointment today (which is going to take a 3 hrs round trip just for 30 mins!!). But when I get back I have some expensive toys to play with (train sim related). So I will see how worn out I am when I get back and stream setting them all up!

Woke up early again nursing sickness so I've been trying to rest and distract myself. Got an exciting delivery today, but will have to see how well I am to unbox on stream perhaps. I'm very tired 😴

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger (1991) The first Soundgarden album I bought, still have it on cassette tape. I think at the time I knew nothing about them, just knew they were in the grunge genre. Played the next albums so much through my college years. Chris Cornell (RIP)

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay Marilyn Manson - Antichrist Superstar (1996) This album hit me like a ton of bricks! Played it a lot during college, bit of shock rock. I remember falling asleep to it then getting woken up by the hidden track at the end, nightmares!

Woodee 🏁🏎️💨 @woodee.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

It's such a relief to wake up and not feel like shit! Might even be able to eat and drink today! Couple of good music albums anniversaries which I will post about later. Might leave one to play on stream this afternoon. Although I have some new hardware arriving tomorrow to go live with?

Woodee 🏁🏎️💨 @woodee.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

I was convinced the little interludes between tracks was only if you played the CD track to track in order. According to Last.fm I have played most of the tracks on this album between 15-30 times since 2006!

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay Skunk Anasie - Stoosh (1996) A stunning 2nd album which came not long before I finished school. A change in drummer from the first album, Mark Richardson. A good mix of hard rock and some ballads. Standouts for me are: "Infidelity (only you)" and "Hedonism"

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay Frankenweenie (2012) When Danny Elfman and Tim Burton collaborate it always ends up in something dark. Along the lines of Corpse Bride this animation was similarly dark, but fun.

Woodee 🏁🏎️💨 @woodee.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay R.E.M. - Automatic For The People (1992) Famous for one song? Everyone has probably heard the ballad "Everybody Hurts" and had a good cry. But it's not all downbeat. "Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight" and "Man On The Moon" stand out for me.

Woodee 🏁🏎️💨 @woodee.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay Joe Satriani - Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards (2010) There generally isn't a bad Satriani album. They provide good rock background music, many songs giving a shuffle vibe. Slowly but surely collecting his back catalogue, but this doesn't necessarily stand out.

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay Blade Runner 2049 (2017) A film I have STILL yet to watch! Think I even have the blu-ray which I got for free with buying some hardware. The original was a classic with Vangelis. This one by Hans Zimmer, and I can't really go wrong with a soundtrack by him so....

Woodee 🏁🏎️💨 @woodee.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay Dream Theater - Awake (1994) In the early 2000s a work colleague says "You like drums right? Listen to this...". From the first drum fill of "6:00" I was pretty much hooked! This lead to over 20 years of buying all albums and watching them live every tour! Classic album!

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay School Of Rock (2003) I think any film that Jack Black stars in, is worth seeing at least once. Good mix of rock and punk on this soundtrack plus Jack Black himself with some very talented kids!

Still recovering from my commuting adventures on Wednesday, calf muscles are still making moving painful. I have a grocery shop arriving today which will be difficult. I doubt I will be streaming this weekend. Instead I am supporting Special Effect watching and donating to a official TSW stream.

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay What Dreams May Come (1998) Don't remember a lot from this movie, just that it was visually very dream/nightmare like. The soundtrack tells the story by Michael Kamen (RIP), not all sun and rainbows. I think I should watch it again soon. Robin Williams (RIP).

Woodee 🏁🏎️💨 @woodee.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Probably less lighthearted than it's competition... those termites would probably give kids knightmares! A playful soundtrack though by the lesser known "Harry Gregson-Williams" and "John Powell". The latter seemingly being a Dreamworks go to for their future animations.

Woodee 🏁🏎️💨 @woodee.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay Antz (1998) This was Dreamworks Animation first attempt at a feature length animated movie. Problematic cast by today's standards but "ignorance was bliss" back then. It was just a coincidence that Pixar released "A Bug's Life" in the same year right? Odd :)

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay Radiohead - Kid A (2000) Another album that reminds me of my college years. 3 years after the stunning album which was "OK Computer" came a much more experimental sound direction which the band would be moving towards.

Woodee 🏁🏎️💨 @woodee.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay American Beauty (2000) I saw this movie at the cinema while at college. I clearly wasn't paying attention at the start because the ending came as a shock to me :) The music is beautiful, big fan of Thomas Newman.

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay Iron Maiden - No Prayer For the Dying (1990) This album probably around the time I first saw Maiden making "hits" like "Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter" and "Mother Russia". I haven't listened to a single Maiden album I disliked so far. Solid rock!

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay Nirvana - From The Muddy Banks Of the Wishkah (1996) Released 2 years after Cobain's death, features songs recorded live from multiple years. Gives the impression it's one big concert. Feel loose and live which I think is where Nirvana were in their element.

Woodee 🏁🏎️💨 @woodee.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay Joe Satriani - Joe Satriani (1995) His 6th studio album with a real mix of music. There are some relaxed rock grooves and also what could be described as experimental pieces? Not my fave album of his, but still solid music here and there.

Woodee 🏁🏎️💨 @woodee.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay Opeth - Sorceress (2016) An album i've not played much but it's pretty good. It's pretty chill reminding me of their "Damnation" album. It still has it's moments of rocking out, time signature changes and the usual progressive rock tomfoolery.

010

Woodee 🏁🏎️💨 @woodee.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

#OnThisDay #MusicOfTheDay Porcupine Tree - Signify (1996) I usually don't like some of PT's earlier works, but I think this album is one of the turning points to more approachable music. Still has some ambient music like "Light Mass Prayer" but the rest are still pretty good!

So I had a very uncomfortable wait for a bus that was late anyway! Yes I got some exercise today, but at what cost! Google Fit says I walked 3.2 km!! It sucks having to rely on public transport, but that is what I have to do. I will not be able to move very well for a week now. Recovery time!!

... but I ended up remaining a little tense because of the pain and not wanting to move and ruin the scan. I didn't want to spend any extended time in the tunnel if I could help it! After the walk back to the bus stop, my legs were like jelly and there was nowhere to sit down.
