Snopes: Trump did call the U.S. a "dumb, stupid country" led by a "stupid person," but he did not say "a year ago." Before making the comment, Trump clearly stated that he was talking about America "two years ago..." So, I will correct him. We were and are being led by a very stupid person now.

I don't think it is really anything new. I remember listening to the Alex Bennett show on the radio in SF in the 90s. The show featured a lot of comedians. The local comedians seemed to have a real camaraderie. I do recall Bennett mentioning Bill Maher back then and saying that he was an asshole.

The population of the US has increased more than 10 fold since 1869. It makes sense that there would be much more litigation that would be challenged up to the SC. Shoot, trump alone seems to have increased their workload by a lot.

When the Judiciary Act of 1869 passed, it permanently set the SC at 9 justices, there were 9 federal judicial districts in the United States. There are now 13 geographically organized circuits (First through Eleventh, plus the D.C. Circuit). At a minimum, there should be 13 justices.

I have been ignoring Reba since she hosted the CMAs during the time that everyone was demonizing the Dixie Chicks. She made many bitchy comments about the DCs. That was in the time that being anti-Iraq war was considered unpatriotic, by the politicians, the media and the gullible public.

There was a bill to raise the minimum wage to $15. That was the bill that Sinema gave her thumbs down to. She was joined by 6 other Democratic senators & 1 independent. Sinema said she thought the wage bill should be separate from the covid relief bill, but then it wasn't done separately either.

I read today that trump is sending me $90 of taxpayer funds as a Medicare recipient. I will take it if it happens, but it takes more than $90 and/or $2000 and/or $5000 to ever vote for a Republican in my lifetime after the damage they have caused. Money won't cure what they have done.

I have long had a theory that everyone needs to be poor for some time in their lives. Not starve to death poor, but poor enough that you have to eat Top Ramen for a week until you get paid. Poor enough that you have to make the hard decisions between necessities. Maybe it would inspire some empathy.

Many are uninformed. I have relatives that don't pay attention to the news, but as evangelical Christians, they believe that the Republican party is the party of Christian values. If they paid attention to reality, they would know that it is not true. They hear the propaganda & don't look further.

It might be a good use of AI to set districts based on uniform criteria, without consideration of politics. Of course, it would have to be nationwide. California had a good system for nonpartisan districting but had to temporarily change so as not to be disadvantaged by Texas' trump gerrymandering.
