The historic boundary which separates Grahamston on the left (west) and old #Glasgow on the right (east). Smug's mural might be suggesting the old St Enoch's Burn is hidden underneath, culverted over by what is now Mitchell Street. #History #HiddenHistory

Listening to @gregjenner.bsky.social's "You're dead to me" podcast with Dr Simon Yarrow & Rachel Parris about Medieval Saints, St Carlo Acutis was mentioned. There was a "relic tour" for his canonisation last Sept in the Glasgow/ Paisley Diocese & 👇 came to my kid's school. Relic's still a thing.. 🤔

Thanks so much for sharing. I read before that the hours were long, but people talked fondly of the treatment and seemed to enjoy working for her, and that she gave "3 square meals a day" to her staff. I wonder what the average working day was for people then, as way of comparison.

Around 1870, so during his lifetime, to distinguish him from other Architects named Thomson. Have a read of this great article by Dominic D'Angelo from the Alexander Thomson Society which explains more - "Why 'Greek' Thomson?" share.google/yc3xbsmTMifT...

Why 'Greek' Thomson?
And when was he described as such?

It definitely influenced his work too. He understood the connection between health and wellbeing with fresh air and access to natural life which can be seen in the pragmatism of his architectural designs and details.
