So, who gets punished for this? I’m in your camp; but until judgements go beyond civil ones that a county’s insurance pays for, what stops it from repeating again and again? How can their budget be hurt or can they face criminal prosecution? There needs to be accountability and consequences.

While I am a Protestant, I sincerely hope that Pope Leo continues the work that Pope Francis brought to light. Is any Pope perfect? Surely not. However, the work to bring attention to the poor, the marginalized, and those who many treat as unequal (LGBTQ) when they are not takes Christ.
