Why are US drug prices so high? Profiteering by HMOs and PBMs, drugs priced as high as the market will bear. The US does NOT bear the burden of development, most programmes depend on non-US trials. The fix is single payer healthcare but this liar will never call for that.

Indeed. Some of us who went to medical school in the 80s will have seen people with reactivated TB, residual effects of polio and perhaps cases of SSPE, deafness and blindness in measles. Graveyards will also soon show many babies and children who died young, usually of now-vaccinatable infections.

Just watched the @kneecapceol.bsky.social set at Glastonbury on the BBC iPlayer. As a man over 60 (but with an O level in Irish), hardly in their target demographic, but it was fucking brilliant. Also illustrated how ineffective the hypocritical condemnations of politicians are.

The Goldwater Rule was self-serving for the AMA in the 60s. Doubtful that it was valid even then, but certainly nowadays, there is so much more exposure of the thoughts, words, behaviour and disposition of politicians that it is often perfectly possible to reach at least a presumptive diagnosis.

The USA desperately needs a psychiatric assessment to see if it has capacity to stay as the world's leading superpower. It clearly lacks the judgement to make decisions for the world, let alone itself. Maybe Canada, kinda like America but more polite and quieter, takes over until America recovers?.

@martinmckee.bsky.social The GMC remit is much too broad. This doctor was dealt with by the law of the land. Her offences pose no safety risk to patients and the GMC should not be involved further. The disrepute charge is outdated and no longer relevant, if indeed it ever was.

People of America. Donald Trump is 78 years old and has about a 12-15% chance of dying of natural causes in the next 4.5 years (until his end of term). He doesn't exactly look like the picture of good health. If Trump is elected and dies in office, JD Vance will be POTUS. Do you really want that?
