Fantastic news in the UK today - the government has apparently ditched its plan to force creatives to 'opt out' if they don't want AI companies training on their life's work. www.thetimes.com/uk/technolog... 🧵 1/4

Such an incredible programme, shows once again that Glasgow is way ahead of stiff Edinburgh when it comes to arts. Respect! ✊

Had to write a short artist statement today for an exhibition piece. I fucking hate doing this. Just another way of making oneself trying to conform to something. I think I should write “doing creative work comes hard to me and I can’t focus because I have to work for money.”

During my visits to Poland and train journeys in various countries, I collected many images. I love trains. One can just disappear into the landscape. Nothing is permanent. Brains are beautifully blank, and the sense of rush is missing. So I made a book with @orangepress.bsky.social . Want one?

Instagram doesn't really work any more for getting updates from folk you like. Plus, it's sucking us into the void of endless scrolling and random videos of women in bikinis. If you want to avoid that, sign up to my newsletter. Occasional emails about my work. No AI. buttondown.com/wojtekkutyla

Eager to read this. Okamura's photography was amazing (thanks @hotelamnesia.bsky.social for introducing me to it). And the Troubles have such a history... Terrible but incredibly interesting and complex.

Some food for thought. As a person deeply embedded in the IT community, I observe this split of opinions and ideas firsthand. It's quite intellectually stimulating but also anxiety-inducing. Worth a read.

Every time I am thinking "never gonna do film again!", something like this happens: I make a few exposures on a medium format camera, I develop the film, and I wonder why I am even bothering with digital. And then I go back to digital. And then it happens again. LOL. Incurable. #photoLife

Somewhere near Dunkeld, 2024 (I think). I miss the North. Haven’t been there a while. Scottish Highlands are the best antidote for difficult times.
