In the WNBA, where new teams typically struggle, the Golden State Valkyries found fast success through unconventional moves, international reach and a front office unafraid to ignore skepticism.

After an abysmal start to the season from beyond the arc, the Golden State Valkyries have ranked fourth in the WNBA in 3-point shooting percentage over the last 15 games.

With a 90-59 blowout over the Chicago Sky, the Golden State Valkyries notched their 18th victory, passing the 1998 Detroit Shock for most wins by a WNBA expansion team.

In what Golden State coach Natalie Nakase called a “must-win” game, the Valkyries downed the Sparks 72-59 on Saturday at Chase Center to pull ahead of Los Angeles for the eighth seed.
