Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I think it’s really funny but it’s also interesting as a marker for what viewers found acceptable targets of comedy (not even that long ago). It’s super smart and the sharpness of where the target of the joke is located is brilliant (I think at least), and silly which is the best kind of brilliant. 010

Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Imposing and insisting on the idea of Nations and what that should mean in the first place in a lot of cases too. It will take a long time… hope we start in earnest soon, it won’t get quicker if we wait. 010
Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I keep thinking that the sentiment “the only facist you can kill is the one in your own head” is so relevant to all of this. If we could somehow bring to focus the UK’s role in all of this, both historically and now, who profited and how it happened. Deal with our own colonialism and its legacy. 230

Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Maybe it will highlight how much more important context is for art than is widely understood. Art is in society like milk is in coffee. 000
Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 15/09/2026I’m not sure I get that, how do you mean? The prompters can shape it and AU isn’t as attached to ideas as some artists I know though it does get fixated on odd things. I think it’s like producers have got their “dream” of a frictionless biddable artist. The triumph of “content” over art. 110
Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 15/09/2026I know what you mean or I have a version of something similar. I keep wondering if it’s because it’s a weird collaboration. It’s like an overbearing commissioner with an erratic but eager draughtsperson who read a lot of books on art but never experienced it. The “technique” is made of words. 210
Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 15/09/2026The people doing the prompting are also making decisions and experimenting with the use of a tool. It is different of course but it does also have some similarities. 110

Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 15/09/2026That might have been the case but people are complicated and couples dynamics particularly so. You don’t know how the unsaid worked in their relationship or what this arrangement made possible im the family. 110
Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Is that because at the moment the most likely tactical vote (or the greatest numbers) are anti reform so it’s easier for the broad left to consider each other whereas the Tories have to go with a traditional enemy? 000
Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Worzel Gummage is the most objectively terrifying thing anyone can have thought of. With a very slight alteration to the soundtrack any episode could be released as horror and no one would question it. How on earth it was made as a kids program has always been strange to me. 000
Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 11/09/2026What does this mean? The Norman Conquest is British history. It’s neither positive or negative. Asking Britons is asking the descendants of the consequences of the Norman invasion. I never understood how we can still think if it as an invasion. It’s us, there’s no rebellion still holding out. 020

Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 05/09/2026Burnham could seize this moment to give the electoral commission proper teeth, and invite cross party support for it, even quoting Orr’s critique. Sure Labour might suffer a little from reduced donations possibly but Reform would be dead and buried not least because Farage would be outflanked. 140

Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 03/09/2026I wonder if the generational political divide can be summarised as the resistance of a transition from the social contract moving from a consent to work to make owners rich to a submission to work if you want to share in the resources owned by rich people. Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Derbyshire is every bit as lightweight as the others. Kirsty and Emily are very very missed. But even more than that watching that Fleming interview of Dimbleby a few months ago was extraordinary. The problem is systemic. Dimbleby is just a different quality and has a better idea of what the job is. 010
Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Really? One of the biggest changes I thought was a lack of her performative exasperation instead of listening and responding to what was actually said. Honestly I think this is about the content itself and the willingness to engage with genuine difference rather than trot out lines. 010
Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 01/09/2026Newsnight this evening is really interesting, the guests are listening to each other. Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 01/09/2026It’s not just Brexit. He’s causing an actual conversation in the media that’s about something. Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 25/08/2026Ludwig 2nd season is a real step up. I liked it before but somehow the writing and Maxwell-Martin and Mitchell’s performances are much more confident and really really funny, plus the added joy of speculating that it’s his love letter to his wife, and it’s in the uk sitcom pantheon. Barkeresque. 000

Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 08/07/2026Ok… hear me out. England win the World Cup, Andy Burnham turns out to be quite good, Farage gets beaten by count binface in the ultimately British way of defeating facism by laughing at them. Dare we dream? 100

Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 09/06/2026Farage would rather incite a riot, be roundly condemned in parliament and be the subject of a weird AI deep fake with the boe governor than have his name associated with that 5million quid. He knows very well what actually damages his brand. 031
Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 27/05/2026Quite hard not to think Blair speaking up is a sign that his influence on the current government has waned very significantly suddenly. Which in the end is a good sign. 000
Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 17/05/2026I think that this is true and also part of breaking that pattern is noticing that the opposition to the politics of leader A or B find easier to play the person not the ball which brings out the defensiveness in the supporters. Mick Lynch is a good model in returning to the message again and again. 030
Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 16/05/2026Maybe I’m not understanding what you mean but there is no doubt at all that Starmer told the members one thing and did something else entirely whilst kick dropping the left. 010

Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 13/05/2026Fwiw Jess Philips is right and it’s quite similar to what John Major said on Newsnight. The avoidance of the debate is what people are sick from and of and the media are also involved in this. If politicians could set out their different visions honestly and respectfully a decision might be reached. 000
Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 12/05/2026Watching Newsnight and two different Labour positions laid out and respectfully discussed, a genuine disagreement fleshed out and I think it’s possible that hearing that productive argument might actually sound good to the country provided they actually do something once they’ve had it. 010
Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 12/05/2026It is possible for a cabinet to collectively have all of those qualities and should certainly be possible for the House of Commons as a whole, it’s the integration that’s currently missing. Boris and McSweeny delighted in removing dissent over engaging with it. 000
Wolf J Flywheel @wjflywheel.bsky.social · 12/05/2026It’s not. But the core issue may be that politicians wont wield any change to the structure of the economy so choose to either mitigate its worst effects through welfare or use “foreigners” as a way to cut welfare and somehow “grow” or look for the “magic” balance. People feel none of that will work 110
