I’m the same way, I’m about halfway in and the running around every month gets old really quick. Majority of my time is spent talking to everyone and in menus than actually fighting. I’d definitely give Engage a shot then though. Has a similar hub, but they scaled it back significantly.

FE has always been about the gameplay for me. Battles/mechanics/maps and I still think Engage destroys 3 Houses in that area. But 3 Houses clearly dominates in narrative/character development. Unit customization is insane and so fun to dive into, but can easily become the focus of the experience.

So I’m in the middle of my first replay of Three Houses and I’m a little surprised to find that I still prefer Engage. But it honestly feels like comparing apples and oranges. They both have such different vibes and it seems so clear they intentionally chose to focus on different aspects.

And honestly, pretty wild that this is only 8 games over the course of like 2 years since I got the console at the end of its launch year. The Switch really did get me so much more invested in gaming and I think it’ll always be my favorite console for that reason alone.

I think the story overall is great, I’m not the biggest fan of how it’s told. I don’t really care for the different perspectives and it feels really rushed until like halfway through pt3. More of my complaints are with the battles, but it’s not a bad game at all! Just doesn’t live up to PoR for me.

2025 Game Completion #6: Fire Emblem Path of Radiance This game has easily solidified itself as one of my favorites of all time. Combat is incredible, story is fantastic, soundtrack is so much better than I remembered. Any Fire Emblem fan needs to give this one a shot. Rating: 10/10 Hours: 48

It’s been at least 5 years since I did my last playthrough of FE: Path of Radiance so I wondered how I would receive it this time. I was instantly reminded why I love this game. Story is great, BIG fan of the battle mechanics, maps are clever and challenging. It’s a must play for any SRPG fan.

That’s so valid. This was me with Xenoblade 2 and there was no way in hell I was starting over when I was at the end for that one. Came back to best the final boss like a year later lol I was really really enjoying it! Life got in the way, but I’m excited to take it back from the beginning.

2025 Game Completion #5: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team Never got through this as a kid, so I’m glad I had the chance and I ended up having more fun with it than I thought! Definitely clunky at times and a slow start, but once it picked up steam I was locked in. Rating: 8/10 Hours: 38
